Parliamentary English Debate
It is adopted from Parliament’s regular activity in Western Country
There are 4 systems of English Debate :
- British Parliamentary
- Asian Parliamentary
- Australian Parliamentary
- World Schools System
Full proportional statements that determine what a debate shall be about
In a debate, the affirmative must argue to defend the motion
Example : This House believe that Iran should stop its nuclear enrichment
Clear description of boundaries of the motion, limiting what the debate will be about in a focused area of discussion
Example : This House would legalize Abortion :
Government of Indonesia would make abortion for unwanted pregnancies protected by law
The distribution of arguments between 1 st speaker and 2 nd speaker
Be careful not to make a hung case
A process of tackling the opposing team’s arguments
It may consist of :
- showing that opposition argument is : illogical, irrelevant and contradictive to one another
A process explaining what point of view that support/against the motion
One argument consist of AREL :
A = Assertion
R = Reasoning
E = Evidence
L = Link Back
