1 The European CIO Association 08/04/2015 07/29/10 Founding the European CIO Association Process so far During 2011 the Articles of the new Association were developed by the Advisory Board members All the National Bodies, except CIGREF, signed a declaration stating: • • They all asked the CIO-Platform Netherlands and Michael Gorriz to act as the founding fathers fot the new Association They all promised to become member and member of the new Board as soon as the new Association will be established On 6 September 2011 the new Association got it’s Royal Decree and the formal establishment was announced in the Belgium Gazette The founding fathers invited all National Bodies now to become member and member of the new Board. All, except CIGREF, became member and member of the new Board. Tomorrow, 30 November, the first Board meeting will take place. © EuroCIO 2011 6 3 Mission Statement The European CIO Association provides its membership - large organizations from both the private and public sector throughout Europe and national CIO bodies with a coordinated platform of services for developing the best usage of Information Technology within their companies and ecosystem and helping them to achieve performance and foster innovation 08/04/2015 Main Objectives Internally Networking. A National Body representing the “demand” or CIO community in a country at the highest level can become member For yearly contribution only paying National Members (NMs) are counted The NB is a legal entity OR is part (department) of a legal entity If more than 1 CIO community in a country = Board’s decision The NB is represented in the Board, preferably by it’s chairman The representative of the NB is fully mandated for all (legal) obligations and rights in the Board . Direct Members (DMs) DMs are: • • OR company member, representing their company. Membership will be transfered to a next CIO OR individual member, as long as they are CIO. Membership is not transfered to the next CIO Criteria for membership. Example: with 50 paying members a NB pays € 200 x 50 = € 10.000/year. IF this yearly fee is > 10% of the national fee, the NB only pays 10%. The NB is free how this contribution is collected from their own members (lump sum, equal per member, etc.) Fees DMs yearly fee is € 10.000 (Board decides) © EuroCIO 2009 6 Benefits The new European CIO Association has following benefits: Independency. No links with or funding from suppliers. Legitimacy as Association, with a formal Board. Thus “the” voice for European CIOs. This is recognised by the European Commission, Digital Europe (IT-suppliers), etc. Representation.
