ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL BY ANNA FARLEY BELL IN A NUTSHELL • Alexander Graham Bell was born on 3rd March 1847 • He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland • He didn’t have the middle name, Graham, until he was 11 years old He got it for his birthday • When he was 23, Bell and his parents moved to Canada • He was a scientist • He died on 2nd August 1922, when he was 75 BELL AS A SCIENTIST • Bell first became interested in the science of sound because both his mother and wife were deaf • He eventually wanted to send voice signals down a telephone wire • In 1876 he and Elisha Gray both filed patents • There was a debate about who got there first but the patent was awarded to Bell • Bell’s first words on the device were to his assistant Watson.
