HUMAN RIGHTS HUMAN WRONGS 5 YEARS!
Welcome to the fifth edition of the Human Rights
Human Wrongs Documentary Film Festival. Six
days with exceptional films, guests, talks and debates about the current state of human rights and
human rights filmmaking in Norway and the world.
forståelse for menneskerettighetsutfordringer
her i Norge og i verden.

THEMES FOR THE 5th HUMAN RIGHTS HUMAN WRONGS
DOCumentary FILM FESTIVAL
human rights human wrongs themes
Outcasts De utstøtte
Millions of people in the world are considered outcasts only because we see them as different
than ourselves. Dalits (untouchables), Roma people, sexual minorities and unwanted refugees are
only some of these. Why do we maintain mechanisms and structures that reproduce mentalities
which enable us to dehumanize others, making
them outcasts?
Romfolket forfølges i Europa og her hjemme får
ikke mindreårige asylsøkere de rettighetene de har
krav på. Millioner av mennesker anses som daliter
– urørbare - i land som India og Bangladesh. Dette
handler ikke bare om daliter, romfolk, seksuelle
minoriteter eller asylsøkere, men om utstøtelse,
dehumanisering og stigmatisering. Hvordan kan
vi skape et samfunn som inkluderer alle?
Payback / Economic injustice
Økonomisk urettferdighet
What is the relation between debt and human
rights? Who is in debt to whom in the globalized
economy? We want to focus on the Human Rights
Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
and look at two subtopics: climate and debt.
Begge temaer
skaper store debatter i internasjonale forhandlingsprosesser. Hva betyr det at utviklingsland skylder
penger til industrialiserte land, og hva innebærer
det at industrialiserte land skylder utviklingsland å
betale klimaregningen?
Protest Movements
Protestbevegelser
The Arab Spring gave a new legitimacy to protest
movements and a belief that they could actually
create political change. We look at protests that
more often than not take place outside the media
spotlight. What characterizes protest movements
in Angola, Tibet, Belarus and Russia?
kunne skape regimeendring. Vi ser på protestene
som finner sted utenfor medienes søkelys. Hva
kjennetegner protestbevegelsene sør for Sahara,
Tibet, Hviterussland og Russland? Hvordan kan det
internasjonale samfunnet være med å støtte opp
om protestbevegelser som kjemper for demokratiske endringer?
festival GUESTS GJESTER
Gerald Sentongo has been working with Human
Rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans persons
in Uganda for several years. He is currently the
Administrator of Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG).
In China people are protesting against the censorship and looking for new ways to share information.
Russia is one of the most dangerous countries for
journalists and human rights activists to work in,
especially in the Northern Caucasus region, but
still people are risking their lives to tell the truth.
Dr. Cephas Lumina is the United Nations
independent expert on the effects of foreign debt
on human rights. He has over 25 years of legal

media and human rights activist. His films on the
issue of caste and untouchability in contemporary
India, have galvanized international attention
to caste discrimination and won numerous film
awards. He is the director of India Untouched –

Bedre forhold for de kasteløse og
bedre forhold for alle kvinner.

The whole village throws a homecoming party for them: the young
boys from the West Bank who’ve
been held as political prisoners in
Israel for months, sometimes even
years - just because they threw
rocks at Israeli soldiers. After the
festivities, the boys have to learn
to cope with their traumatic arrest
and their time in jail, where their
rights as minors were completely
ignored.
