AMAZING GRACE
1st Lieutenant Clovis T. Ray was born in Texas on July 6,
1977. He attended Officer Candidate School at Fort
Benning, Georgia and upon graduation he received his
commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He is a
graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, and Airborne
School. He arrived to Headquarters and Headquarters
Company, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment on October
14, 2011. He deployed in November of 2011 in support of
Operation Enduring Freedom XII, and was assigned to
Delta Company, 2-35IN as a Platoon Leader.
1LT Ray’s awards and decorations include: Bronze Star
Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1
OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan
Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on
Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas
Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat Infantryman’s
Badge and Parachutist Badge.
1LT Ray was killed in action on 15 Mar 2012, in support of
Operation Enduring Freedom XII, Kunar Province,
Afghanistan.
POSTLUDE
He is survived by his wife Shannon, son Dean, brothers,
Bobby Ray Jr. and Edward, sister Jennifer and parents
Bob and Cecilia Ray.
