Plant Like Jesus, Part one March 8

GOD’S MISSION:
Fill The Earth With His Glory
“For the earth will be filled with the
knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the
waters cover the sea.” Habakkuk 2:14 ESV
God’s Glory Is Embodied In
Jesus Christ
“He is the radiance of the glory of God
and the exact imprint of his nature.”
Heb. 1:3
Our Mission: Glorify God by
Filling Our Field with Jesus
We fill our fields with Jesus by
planting local bodies of Christ
in every place and for every
people group.
And the same one who descended is the
one who ascended higher than all the
heavens, so that he might fill the entire
universe with himself. Eph. 4:10
Plant Jesus
By the grace God has given me, I laid a
foundation as a wise builder, and someone
else is building on it. But each one should
build with care. 11 For no one can lay any
foundation other than the one already laid,
which is Jesus Christ. I Cor. 3:10-11
How Do We Bring Glory To
God On Earth?
“I glorified you on earth, having
accomplished the work that you gave me
to do.” John 17:4
How Do We Bring Glory To
God On Earth?
“By this my Father is glorified, that you
bear much fruit and so prove to be my
disciples.” John 15:8
As a plan for the fullness of time, to unite
all things in him, things in heaven and
things on earth. Eph. 1:10
And God placed all things under his feet
and appointed him to be head over
everything for the church, 23 which is his
body, the fullness of him who fills
everything in every way. Eph. 1:21-22
In whom the whole structure, being joined
together, grows into a holy temple in the
Lord. In him you also are being built
together into a dwelling place for God by
the Spirit. Eph. 2:21-22
and to bring to light for everyone what is
the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in
God who created all things, so that
through the church the manifold wisdom
of God might now be made known to the
rulers and authorities in the heavenly
places. Eph. 3:9-10
That is why the Scriptures say, "When he
ascended to the heights, he led a crowd of
captives and gave gifts to his people.”
Notice that it says "he ascended.” This
clearly means that Christ also descended
to our lowly world.
Eph. 4: 8-9 NLT
And the same one who descended is the one
who ascended higher than all the heavens, so
that he might fill the entire universe with
himself. Now these are the gifts Christ gave
to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the
evangelists, and the pastors and teachers
Eph. 4: 10-11
to equip the saints for the work of ministry,
for building up the body of Christ, until we
all attain to the unity of the faith and of the
knowledge of the Son of God, to mature
manhood, to the measure of the stature of
the fullness of Christ... from whom the whole
body, joined and held together by every joint
with which it is equipped, when each part is
working properly, makes the body grow so
that it builds itself up in love. Eph. 4:12...16
Vision: Give every person the
very best chance to become a
genuine follower of Christ and
receive eternal life.
100X Strategy: Leverage our
experience by starting a unique
3D Equipping church that
discovers, develops and deploys
the leaders to plant churches
and equips other churches to do
the same.
A 3D Church: Discovers,
develops, and deploy work crews
to proclaim the gospel to
unreached people and start new
churches.
Major goals of the churches we
start:
1. Honor & worship the real
Jesus of history and the Bible
2. Reach unreached men
3. Equip members live by the
Bible
Major goals of the churches we
start:
4. Equip members build the
church
5. Maximize opportunities for
value shaping
6. Reproduce regularly in order
to fill the GTA and beyond
with Jesus.

Many Have It Backwards
They say small groups are for evangelism
and large groups are for discipleship.
1. What did Jesus do? Paul?
2. What do we know about human nature?
3. Which setting can you best disciple
someone?
4. How do people in most cultures
process major decisions in life?
Advantages Of This Strategy
1. Maximizes evangelism, esp. 1st yr
2. New Christian leader types are
released early
3. Not need to slow evangelism
4. Apostle can focus on top and
bottom of the funnel

How to Reach More Unreached
Men
“What then, brothers? What then,
brothers? When you come together, each
one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a
tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things
be done for building up... Let two or three
prophets speak, and let the others weigh
what is said.” I Cor. 14:26a, 29

Thoughts On Lots of Singing
1. Most unreached men do not like a
lot of it
2. Most Christian men do not look
like they are into it
3. When the group is not singing
with enthusiasm it communities
the wrong message
4. Men want to get to message, and
they don’t want a long service

How to Plant a Healthy
Reproducing Church
Who was the greatest church
planter of all time?
Who was the greatest church
planter trainer of all time?
Jesus An Apostle
“Consider Jesus, the Apostle and
High Priest of our confession.... the
builder of a house has more honor
than the house itself.... And we are
his house.” Heb. 3:1, 3, 6 ESV
Jesus The Apostle
Jesus The Builder
“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this
rock I will build my church, and the gates
of hell shall not prevail against it.”
Matt. 16:18 ESV
Build = Plant
“He who plants and he who waters are
one, and each will receive his wages
according to his labor. For we are God's
fellow workers. You are God's field, God's
building. According to the grace of God
given to me, like a skilled master builder I
laid a foundation.” I Cor. 3:8-10 ESV
Why Don’t We Typically View
Jesus As A Church Planter?
1. Prevailing church paradigms
1. Focus on Pentecost
3. It would be embarrassing

Strategic Issues
1. Very slow conversion growth
2. Not reaching the established areas of
well, men and singles
3. 61% women 39% men
4. 80%+ of churches are plateaued
5. Few churches are planting (5%)
6. Even fewer are producing planters

all are welcomed
4.Brief prayer and testimony (2-4 min.)
5.Clear communication of the good news
with Q & A (30 min)
6.Invite to a Plug & Play Group
7.Share other visionary plans
Example Invitation
Would you come over to my house on
Tuesday night at 7? We are hosting a dessert
party and a talk about what Jesus offers us
today. Most people are pleasantly surprised to
see what the real Jesus of history and Bible
was like and practical ways he can help them.
The meeting is over dinner and will last about
an hour and 15 minutes. You will not be put on
the spot to say or pray anything. You will enjoy
meeting neighbors before and afterwards.
Tips for Success
1.Invite abundantly and repeatedly
2. Exceptional hospitality & service
3. Clear gospel message with an
attractive title
–Vintage Jesus for Everyday Life
–Winning In Life (Worst to First)
Final Thoughts On Discovery
Parties
1. Do not let seasoned Christians dominate
2. Follow-up those interested
3. Host multiple Discovery Parties until
several prospects are generated
4. Involve newcomers in helping quickly
5. Apprentice others to do them
6. Start new Discovery Parties and Plug &
Play groups around persons of peace
Discovery Seminars
Like discovery parties only more
focused on the topic, and probably in a
larger area. Sit around tables. Make it
like a business seminar.

them in every church, with prayer and
fasting they committed them to the Lord in
whom they had believed.” Acts 14:23 ESV
Birth Plug & Play Groups
These are much like Discovery Parties
except they:
1. Have “hosts” not leader/teachers
2. Use a DVD for content
3. Meet for 4-6 weeks
