AGENCY REPORT BY SHERONDA KING • VISION QUEST IS AN EMPLOYEE-OWNED COMPREHENSIVE NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE ORGANIZATION THAT ABIDE BY THE HIGHEST PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS IN PROVIDING INNOVATIVE INTERVENTION SERVICES TO AT RISK YOUTH FAMILIES. • • • • Kids are safe, valued and honored Families are respected and supported Staff are trained, supported and appreciated Communities are protected, impacted and involved. HISTORY • Founded in 1973 • Founder Bob Burton • Started off with 6 cases assigned by Judge John Collins (AZ) At Risk Youth between the ages 10-21 yrs old 5,663 youth arrested in 201 0 in Delaware (Puzzanchera, 2013) 374/5663 were arrested for a violent crime (CJC, 2011) 42-56% of youth offender released juvenile facilities served time on a felony Over 3,000 youth are involved with YRS (CJC, 2011) SERVICES Accountability- curfew checks, crew calls, crisis intervention, inhome intervention ART-cognitive behavioral intervention program FFT- family based therapy ( for youth suffering from mental health issues, which may lead delinquency) Girl Self Esteem- focus on trauma/drama, healthy relationship sexuality and mind-body connection Guided Recreation- Activities are created to replace negative group recreation SERVICES PLL- provided for youth in residential placement to facilitate reentry back to home and community Street Smart- prevention groups (focus on sexual transmitted diseases , teen pregnancy, gang awareness) Sanctuary youth group and individual sessions- helping youth recover from the effects of trauma and chronic stress Pre Trial Youth- provides similar services as accountability prior to trial POLICY AND PROCEDURES Confidentially ( ex.
