Mr. Martin’s presentation titled “Private Security and Criminal Justice,” had over 450 students in attendance. Prior to joining Cummins, Mr. Martin spent 25 years working in Law Enforcement with the Columbus Police Department, during which he held positions of sworn authority in every major division of the department. In this last position, he served as Chief of Police. Mr. Martin spoke to students on the importance of global security and the safety issues that are presented to businesses traveling and operating outside of the United States. facebook.com/BSUCJC Department of Criminal Justice Presents unexpected guest speaker Over 450 students and faculty members attended the first Professional Development Seminar of the 2012-2013 academic year. Thomas Nathan Harmon, speaking on prisoner re-entry, kept the students on their toes; for the first time in PDS history, the CJC department hosted an Indiana Department of Corrections (IDOC) Inmate. Harmon was sentenced to five years in the IDOC after his involvement in a tragic car accident, killing his passenger. For the past three years, Harmon has been a motivational speaker sharing his story of lessons learned and redemption. Where are they now? SPOTLIGHT– Recent 2012 graduate, Kaycee Sullivan, was sworn in as an Indiana State Excise Police (ISEP) by Chairman, Alex Huskey, on August 3, 2012. Sullivan is now one of 86 sworn officers with the ISEP. She is assigned to the District 1 office in Bristol, IN.
