Add your club information to Google Places for Business Search engines are becoming more tailored to user locations because 97% of consumers are searching for local businesses online. Add your club information, including photos, mailing address or service area, website, etc. to Google Places for Business for free. www.google.com/placesforbusiness 2 9. Set up a club Twitter account Twitter reaches over 93 million people in the U.S. monthly Utilize Twitter for sending out information on your club, Rotary news, and events. Sign up to follow other Twitter users to get great ideas and content, like Rotary International, club members, other Rotary clubs, etc. To set up a Twitter account, go to: https://support.twitter.com/articles/100990-how-to-signup-on-twitter# 3 8. Create Club YouTube videos. YouTube reaches over 184 million people in the U.S. monthly and is the 3rd biggest driver of traffic to websites. Draw potential members and the general public to your website through interesting videos about your club and its members. Add a catchy phrase or quote about Rotary into the tagline of club member e-mails. Do the electronic version of wearing your Rotary pin! Have members of your club create an e-mail signature or tagline that may include: – Quote or phrase about what Rotary is – Information about your Rotary club – Link to your club’s website or Facebook page Have club members share their point of view with others who might be unaware of Rotary and what it means to them. You‘ll open up the lines of communication about what Rotary is by creating opportunities for those who come in contact with member e-mails to educate themselves about Rotary and your club. 5 6. Create a Facebook page for your club. Over 168 million people in the U.S. are on Facebook: – 40 million users are between 25-34. – 49% of Internet users over age 65 Facebook is a great way to draw a variety of potential members to your site. Use your club Facebook page to: – Post information about your club’s activities, events, pictures, etc. – Share hot topics of interest with club members. Join members from clubs in our District who are responsible for club PR/interested in Rotary awareness to: – Get ideas and best practices on what other clubs are doing. – Ask questions/discuss PR-related topics and issues with other club members. LinkedIn is a great way to electronically network and reach out to a variety of potential members to promote your club. Rotary has some great e-newsletters with tips and ideas to help you promote your club, including: – The Membership Minute is a short e-mail newsletter that provides membership development ideas, resources, and tools. – The biweekly PR Tips offers innovative ideas for clubs and districts to promote Rotary in their communities. – Rotary Training Talk keeps Rotarians informed about the latest news in RI training, including RI mailings, RI Board decisions that affect training, and training tips. – Weekly update provides free content for your Rotary publications. When you get the newsletter e-mailed to you, you will receive from four to five RI news stories every week. You can use these articles in any of your Rotary or Rotary-related publications, including your website and newsletter. Join the District’s new “Rotary is…” campaign! This visual campaign is a fantastic way to not just engage club Rotarians to share their thoughts with one another but a great way to share what we do as Rotarians with the public! We’re collecting photos and video from Rotarians around the District and Zone that display their individual thoughts on what Rotary is to them in 5 words or less (preferably). All photos and videos will be shared and also made available for clubs to use as a tool via the Rotary Awareness 5450 blog. Post photos of your club members sharing their thoughts on your club website, Facebook page, and other media.
