Question 1
1.1 What is E-Assessment
E-assessment, also known as electronic assessment, can be defines as a systematic
approach that uses digital technology to assess learners’ knowledge, skills, and
competences through tools such as computers, tablets, smart phones or online
platforms , rather than traditional paper-based methods. It is used to deliver
assignments and tests electronically in the form of quizzes, online exams, interactive
activities, projects and digital submissions. E-assessments can be applied for both
formative and summative purposes in the classroom. Furthermore, many e-assessment
systems use automated grading to mark responses, calculate scoring and provide
instant feedback, particularly for objective questions such as multiple-choice, true/false,
and matching questions.
1.2 What is the value of e-assessment
E-assessment improves both teaching and learning by making assessments more
effective, interactive and informative. It provides learners with instant feedback on
objective questions, helping them to quickly identify mistakes and improve their
understanding. It also allows for automatic marking which reduces educators’
administrative workload, saves time and ensures accurate results. In addition, eassessment can be used to track learners’ performance by generative reports based on
their results, enabling educators to monitor progress, identify learning gaps and adjust
teaching strategies accordingly. It also promotes learner independence by allowing
learners to complete assessments individually at their own pace and at a time that suits
them. Furthermore, it supports both formative and summative assessment and
enhances learner engagement through interactive activities.
