Introduction For Entrepreneurs Day, I plan to start a small business called Boba Bliss, which will sell refreshing and colourful bubble tea . Bubble tea, also known as boba, is a drink that can be made with tea, milk or fruit flavours and chewy tapioca pearls. I chose this idea because boba is a fun and interesting drink, and customers can choose different flavours instead of just having an ordinary drink. My target market will mainly be learners and teachers at my school. I plan to offer a few different flavours so that customers can choose a flavour they like . I also want my stall to look colourful and attractive, with a clear menu and decorations to catch people's attention. The main goal of Boba Bliss is to sell a product that customers enjoy while making a profit. To make my business successful, I will need to plan my budget carefully, work out my costs, choose a fair selling price, advertise my stall and give customers good service. Entrepreneurs Day will also give me a chance to practise important entrepreneurial skills and learn what it is like to run a small business. 2. Entrepreneurial Skills and Characteristics Starting and running a business can be challenging, so an entrepreneur needs certain characteristics and skills to make their business successful. For Boba Bliss, I will need to use several of the characteristics from the textbook, such as being confident, creative, responsible and good at planning. I will also need skills such as creative thinking, critical thinking, planning, finding opportunities, being resourceful and organising things well. Takes Risks An entrepreneur needs to be willing to take risks. For Boba Bliss, I will have to spend money on ingredients, cups and other materials before I know exactly how many drinks I will sell. This is a risk because I could sell fewer drinks than I expected and not make as much profit. I can lower this risk by making a careful budget and estimating how many drinks I am likely to sell. Is Confident Confidence is important because I will need to speak to customers and explain what I am selling. I will also need to feel confident when asking people to visit my stall and try Boba Bliss. If I am not confident in my own business idea, customers may also be less interested. I will therefore need to believe in my product and be friendly when dealing with customers. Is a Creative Thinker Being a creative thinker can help my business stand out from other stalls. I can use creativity when choosing flavours, designing the menu, decorating the stall and presenting the drinks. For example, I could make the stall colourful and have an interesting menu that makes learners curious about Boba Bliss. This could help attract customers who may not have planned to buy a drink. Is Good at Planning Planning will be very important because there are many things that need to be done before Entrepreneurs Day. I will need to decide how many drinks I want to make, work out what ingredients and materials I need, calculate my costs and plan how I will advertise. Good planning will help me avoid forgetting important things and will make the day easier to manage. Looks Out for Great Opportunities An entrepreneur needs to notice opportunities that could help their business. Entrepreneurs Day itself is a good opportunity because I will have a chance to introduce Boba Bliss to learners and teachers who may be interested in trying bubble tea. I can also use the event to see which flavours are more popular and learn what customers like. Is Responsible Being responsible is important when running a business because I will be trusted with money, ingredients and equipment. I will need to keep my stall clean and organised and make sure customers receive the correct drinks. I will also need to keep track of the money I receive and make sure that I do not waste ingredients or materials. Works Hard An entrepreneur needs to work hard because running a business involves more than just selling the product. Before Entrepreneurs Day, I will need to prepare my ingredients and materials, plan my stall and advertise Boba Bliss. On the day, I will need to set up the stall, serve customers and keep everything organised. If I want my business to be successful, I will need to put in effort from beginning to end. Never Gives Up An entrepreneur should not give up when something goes wrong. For example, if fewer people buy from Boba Bliss than I expected, I should not immediately decide that the business has failed. I could think critically about what happened and consider what I could improve, such as my advertising, prices or choice of flavours. Learning from problems instead of giving up could help me become a better entrepreneur. 2.1 Skills of an Entrepreneur The characteristics of an entrepreneur are closely connected to their skills. The skills that will be especially useful for Boba Bliss are creative thinking, finding opportunities, critical thinking, planning, being resourceful and organising things well. Creative thinking will help me come up with interesting ideas for my flavours, menu and stall. Finding opportunities will help me notice ways to attract customers and make the most of Entrepreneurs Day. Critical thinking will help me think carefully about challenges and make sensible decisions, especially if something does not go according to plan. Planning will help me prepare my budget, ingredients, equipment and advertising before the event. Being resourceful means using what I have available to solve problems instead of immediately giving up. Organising things well will help me keep track of my money, ingredients, equipment and customer orders. All of these skills will work together to help Boba Bliss run smoothly. 2.2 Am I Naturally an Entrepreneur? I think I have some characteristics of an entrepreneur because I enjoy coming up with ideas and thinking of creative ways to make them interesting. I also enjoy planning ideas and working out how they could become successful. These qualities would be useful when creating and running Boba Bliss. At the same time, I know that I still have skills that I need to improve. For example, running a business requires confidence, responsibility, organisation and the ability to deal with problems. I may not naturally be good at all of these things yet, but I can improve them through practice and experience. I believe Entrepreneurs Day will be a good opportunity for me to discover which entrepreneurial qualities I already have and which ones I still need to develop. Being an entrepreneur is not only about having a good business idea; it is also about being willing to learn, work hard, solve problems and keep trying when things become difficult. 3. SWOT Analysis A SWOT analysis helps an entrepreneur identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that could affect a business. I will use a SWOT analysis to look at what could help Boba Bliss succeed and what problems I may need to prepare for before Entrepreneurs Day. 3.1 Strengths One of the main strengths of Boba Bliss is that bubble tea is a super popular and interesting product. It is different from many of the usual snacks and drinks sold at school, which could make learners curious about the stall. Another strength is that customers can choose from different flavours, giving them more choice. The colourful drinks and attractive stall could also catch people's attention and make the business stand out from other stalls. These strengths could help Boba Bliss attract customers and increase the number of drinks I sell. 3.2 Weaknesses One weakness of Boba Bliss is that bubble tea can take longer to prepare than a packaged snack. If many customers arrive at once, this could lead to a long queue and make some customers decide not to wait. I could reduce this problem by preparing as much as possible before Entrepreneurs Day and keeping my stall organised. Another weakness is that I will have to buy ingredients and materials before knowing exactly how many drinks I will sell. If I make or buy more than I need,I could waste money and make less profit. Some ingredients may also need to be stored correctly to keep them fresh, so I will need to plan this carefully. 3.3 Opportunities Entrepreneurs Day is a great opportunity for Boba Bliss because I will be able to introduce my product to many learners and teachers. I can advertise before the event to make people curious and encourage them to visit my stall. Offering a few different flavours is another opportunity because customers can choose what they like, and I can see which flavours are the most popular. The experience itself is also an opportunity for me. By running Boba Bliss, I can learn about budgeting, advertising, customer service and making decisions. These skills could help me if I decide to start another small business in the future. 3.4 Threats One of the biggest threats to Boba Bliss is competition from other stalls. Customers will have many different products to choose from, so I will need to make my stall and product interesting enough for people to want to buy from me. Some learners may also choose cheaper snacks instead of bubble tea. Another threat is that I may not sell as many drinks as I expected. This could mean that I make less profit or even lose money if my costs are too high. A further threat is that the price of ingredients or materials could be higher than I expected, which would increase my costs. I can prepare for this by making a realistic budget and comparing prices before buying everything. 3.5 Overall SWOT Analysis Overall, the SWOT analysis shows that Boba Bliss has strengths such as being different, colourful and offering customers a choice of flavours. However, I will need to manage weaknesses such as preparation time and the possibility of wasting ingredients. Entrepreneurs Day gives me opportunities to attract customers and learn valuable business skills, but I will also face threats such as competition, cheaper products and unexpected costs. By thinking about these factors before the event, I can make better decisions and improve my chances of having a successful stall. 4. Business and Product Information 4.1 Description of the Product For Entrepreneurs Day, I plan to run a small business called Boba Bliss, which will sell 30 cups of bubble tea. Bubble tea is a tea-based drink that can contain milk, flavouring, sweeteners and chewy tapioca pearls. The tapioca pearls are an important part of the drink because they give it its chewy texture. I plan to offer four different flavours so that customers can choose one they like: Flavour Classic Milk Tea Description A creamy drink made with black tea, milk, milk-tea powder and tapioca pearls. Brown Sugar Milk Tea A milk tea made with black tea, milk, brown sugar syrup and tapioca pearls. Taro Milk Tea A creamy drink made with black tea, milk, taro powder and tapioca pearls. Matcha Green Milk Tea A milk-based drink made with matcha powder, milk and tapioca pearls. The drinks will be served in 500 ml cups with lids and wide straws that are suitable for bubble tea. My target market will mainly be learners, parents and teachers. Since this is a school event, I want the product to be affordable while still making a profit. 4.2 Ingredients and Materials The ingredients I would need for the 30 bubble teas include: ● Tea ● Milk ● Milk-tea powder ● Taro powder ● Matcha powder ● Brown sugar syrup ● Tapioca pearls ● Ice ● Water I would also need materials for serving the drinks and setting up the stall, such as: ● 500 ml cups with lids ● Bubble-tea straws ● Napkins ● Disposable gloves ● Printed menus ● Simple stall decorations 4.3 Budget and Costs I calculated the estimated cost of the ingredients based on the amounts needed to make the 30 drinks. Ingredient Estimated Cost Full-cream milk R92.23 Milk-tea powder R100.00 Taro powder R43.75 Matcha powder R157.50 Tapioca pearls R486.00 Ceylon black tea R40.00 Brown sugar syrup R65.00 Ice R60.00 Water R10.00 Total ingredient costs R1,054.48 The other variable costs would be: Material Cost 30 cups with lids R150.00 30 bubble-tea straws R60.00 Napkins R20.00 Disposable gloves R50.00 Total other variable costs R280.00 The variable costs are costs that can change depending on how many drinks are made. For Boba Bliss, these include the ingredients, cups, straws, napkins and gloves. The fixed costs are costs that I expect to stay the same for this project, such as the printed menu and simple stall decorations. Cost Amount Ingredients R1,054.48 Other variable costs R280.00 Fixed costs R80.00 Total estimated costs R1,414.48 Therefore, the estimated total cost for 30 drinks is R1,414.48. The estimated variable cost per drink is: R1,334.48 ÷ 30 = R44.48 Therefore, the estimated variable cost of one drink is R44.48. When the fixed costs are spread across all 30 drinks, the estimated average total cost per drink is: R1,414.48 ÷ 30 = R47.15 Therefore, the estimated average total cost per drink is R47.15. 4.4 Selling Price and Profit I would sell each bubble tea for R65. I chose this price because it is higher than the estimated variable cost of R44.48 and the average total cost of R47.15, which means the selling price is above the estimated average cost per drink and allows the business to make a profit. I also think R65 is a suitable price for a school event because I do not want the price to be unnecessarily high for learners and teachers. If all 30 drinks were sold: 30 × R65 = R1,950 Estimated profit: R1,950 − R1,414.48 = R535.52 Therefore, the estimated total profit for Boba Bliss would be R535.52. This budget shows that if all 30 drinks are sold for R65 each, Boba Bliss should be able to cover its estimated costs and make a profit. Calculating the costs first also helps me understand how much money I would need and whether my selling price is suitable. 5. Advertising I will advertise Boba Bliss before Entrepreneurs Day so that learners, parents and teachers know about my business before the event. I will create a simple poster with the name Boba Bliss, the four flavours, the selling price of R65 per drink and the date of Entrepreneurs Day. I can put the poster where people are likely to see it and also tell people about the stall beforehand. On Entrepreneurs Day, I will make sure that the stall has a clear menu showing the available flavours and prices. I will also make the drinks easy to see so that customers can quickly see what is being sold. I will be friendly and explain the different flavours to customers if they are unsure about what to choose. These advertising methods can attract customers by making them aware of Boba Bliss before the event and reminding them where to find the stall on the day. A clear poster and menu can also make the business look organised and help customers quickly see what is available. Advertising before the event may make customers interested in trying the stall's bubble tea, which could encourage more people to visit the stall and increase sales. 6. Advertisement Poster 7. Summary and Conclusion Boba Bliss is my business idea for Entrepreneurs Day, where I plan to sell 30 bubble tea drinks in four different flavours. Throughout this project, I looked at the skills and characteristics I would need as an entrepreneur, such as confidence, creativity, planning, responsibility and hard work. I also completed a SWOT analysis to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that could affect my business. I worked out the estimated costs of my ingredients, materials and other expenses. The estimated average total cost of one drink is R47.15, which helped me decide on a selling price of R65 per drink. If all 30 drinks are sold, I could make an estimated profit of R535.52. I also planned how I would advertise Boba Bliss before and during Entrepreneurs Day to attract customers. Overall, this project has helped me understand that running a business requires more than just having a good idea. An entrepreneur needs to plan carefully, manage money, solve problems, advertise their product and be willing to work hard. I believe Boba Bliss could be a successful stall if I prepare properly and use the entrepreneurial skills I have developed through this project. 8. Bibliography Little B's Bubble Tea. (2026).
