Last semester, I feel I managed my time well by allocating
specific time each week for my readings, which helped me stay
on top of the course content and feel more prepared for tutorials
and discussions. This approach meant I wasn't constantly
playing catch-up, which reduced my stress levels throughout the
semester. This semester, I would like to build on this by
consolidating each week's work as I go, rather than letting it pile
up. I plan to do this by reviewing my notes and readings weekly
instead of leaving everything until closer to exams. This way, I
hope to avoid the pressure of cramming and go into assessments
feeling genuinely prepared rather than rushed.
When I looked back at my semester one essay, there were a few
things I could've done better. The main one is I didn't really use
PEEL properly I'd give my evidence but then just jump to the
next point instead of actually explaining how it linked back to
what I was arguing. Looking back, I think this made some of
my paragraphs feel a bit disjointed. I also noticed I kept saying
the same thing over and over, just in different words, instead of
actually bringing in new points or ideas. On top of that, some of
my paragraphs were more just describing things rather than
actually analysing them properly. My referencing was also a bit
inconsistent in places, especially with page numbers and dates.
Going forward I want to actually plan my paragraphs properly
using PEEL before I start writing, check my drafts for repeating
myself, and just be more consistent with my referencing.
