Promising to be a landmark edition, Ingenium 26 offers three days of rigorous intellectual challenge, hands-on problem solving, and unbridled innovation across the ever-expanding frontiers of science, ABOUT THE COMPETITION technology, and engineering. Guided by the spirit of the phoenix that adorns its crest, a symbol of relentless rising and of ideas reborn stronger under pressure, the ISL Science Society is dedicated to crafting an experience that is as transformative as it is unforgettable. Participants will be challenged to move beyond the boundaries of conventional thinking and into the realm of original inquiry, creative application, and genuine discovery. Featuring fifteen distinct categories, each meticulously designed to test scientific acumen, engineering intuition, and creative problem solving, Ingenium 26 spans disciplines from Physics and Chemistry to Computer Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Design. Every event is conceived to reward not just knowledge, but the ability to think critically, independently, and under pressure. Through collaboration, competition, and the shared pursuit of excellence, Ingenium 26 aspires to kindle in every participant a deeper curiosity for the world around them and the conviction that they have the power to change it. 1 Dear Sir/Madam, FROM THE PRINCIPAL It is with great pride and a deep sense of purpose that I extend this invitation to your esteemed institution to join us for ISL Ingenium. Since its inception, Ingenium has stood as a reflection of International School Lahore's most fundamental belief: that education must extend beyond the boundaries of the classroom, and that the greatest lessons are learned when young minds are challenged to think, collaborate, and innovate. Now entering its third edition, INGENIUM 26 is our most ambitious undertaking yet, featuring 15 diverse categories spanning pure sciences, engineering, mathematics, astronomy, forensics, arts, cryptography, psychology, entrepreneurship, and more. Each category has been designed to push every participant beyond what they believe they are capable of, and to help them discover strengths they did not know they possessed. International School Lahore has always been committed to fostering intellectual curiosity and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow. INGENIUM is the embodiment of that commitment, a platform where curiosity meets competition, creativity meets rigor, and the brightest young minds from across Pakistan come together to celebrate the limitless possibilities of STEM. I warmly invite your delegation to join us on the 28th, 29th, and 30th of August 2026. We look forward to welcoming you and are confident INGENIUM 26 will be a truly transformative experience for every student who participates. Yours Sincerely, Shazad Tahir Principal, International School Lahore 2 FROM THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL Dear Sir/Madam, When we first conceived of INGENIUM, we had one simple hope: to build something that would make us proud and give schools across Pakistan a platform worthy of their talent. Two editions later, that hope has become a reality, and with INGENIUM 26, we are determined to raise the bar higher than ever before. This is not just another edition. This is a statement. Over the past two years, we have listened carefully to every piece of feedback, studied what worked and what could be better, and rebuilt INGENIUM from the ground up with one goal in mind: to create the most intellectually rigorous, creatively demanding, and genuinely memorable STEM Olympiad Pakistan has seen at the school level. I believe we have done exactly that. This year's edition introduces 15 meticulously crafted categories, each designed to challenge participants in ways that textbooks and classrooms simply cannot replicate. Whether you are drawn to the forensic intensity of The Last Sin, the cryptographic depth of Vigenère's Veil, the cosmic ambition of Sputnik's Ascent, or the artistic freedom of Sadequain’s Studio, INGENIUM 26 has a category that will test you, surprise you, and ultimately reward you. Beyond the categories, INGENIUM is a community. It is three days of fierce competition, unexpected friendships, and the shared exhilaration of minds at their very best. To every delegation making the journey to join us: we see your commitment, and we promise to make it worth every moment. Three days. Fifteen categories. One unforgettable weekend. Yours Sincerely, Executive Council, INGENIUM 26 3 THE INSTITUTION Established with an uncompromising commitment to excellence, International School Lahore has emerged as one of Pakistan's most forward-thinking educational institutions. Spanning a diverse and driven student body of over 4,500, ISL has built a reputation for blending academic rigour with genuine character development, producing not just high achievers, but thoughtful, resilient individuals equipped to engage meaningfully with the world beyond the classroom. The institution's faculty represents the finest teaching talent in the country, and its academic model is one that prizes curiosity and depth over rote learning. Beyond the classroom, ISL fosters a rich culture of co-curricular engagement, where students are encouraged to lead, compete, and create across disciplines as varied as scientific research, debating, and the arts. In a remarkably short span of time, ISL has grown into the largest O and A Level institution in the country, a scale it carries not as a statistic, but as a responsibility. Its students are known as Markhors. And it is from this community that Ingenium draws its spirit. 4 ISL SCIENCE SOCIETY In a few short years, the ISL Science Society has established itself as one of the most decorated student STEM platforms in Pakistan. Its members have represented the country at the world's most demanding science competitions, returning from the International Biology Olympiad with a silver medal, and carrying Pakistan's colours at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics, the International Young Physicists' Tournament, and the International Young Naturalists' Tournament. Nationally, the Society stands as the reigning champion of the Pakistan Young Physicists' Tournament, and has earned multiple Best Delegation honours at LUMS PSIFI, one of Pakistan's most competitive university-level science forums. The Society's ambitions, however, extend well beyond competition. Behind every medal is a conviction that ISL's students should not wait for opportunity, but create it — that the platforms they dream of competing on are platforms they are capable of building themselves. Ingenium is the fullest expression of that conviction. A stage built not just to celebrate science, but to demand it. 5 OURCATEGORIES COMPULSORY CATEGORIES Each participating team is required to compete in both compulsory categories, in addition to their chosen optionals. Malpighi’s Manifestation (Pure Sciences) Named after Marcello Malpighi, the 17th century pioneer of microscopy whose curiosity transformed our understanding of the living world, this category challenges participants across the full breadth of pure sciences. Teams navigate a multi-round gauntlet spanning Biology, Chemistry, and Physics combining a rigorous knowledge quiz with a hands-on experimental challenge and a high-pressure problem solving tournament. Eureka (Research) Ingenium’s second compulsory category, Eureka draws its name from the oldest expression of scientific discovery in human history. Delegates will be challenged to demonstrate something far harder than knowledge: the ability to communicate it. Tasked with guiding a non-specialist from a common misconception to a foundational scientific truth, teams must combine conceptual clarity, persuasive reasoning, and genuine pedagogical skill. 7 OPTIONAL CATEGORIES Each participating team is permitted to select a maximum of five and is required to select a minimum of three optional categories. Axiom of Choice (Mathematics) Mathematics is not a subject you can bluff your way through, and Axiom of Choice is designed with exactly that in mind. This category tests mathematical prowess across multiple rounds of escalating intensity. Teams must be able to think critically, and perform under the kind of time pressure that separates those who know mathematics from those who truly understand it. Sputnik’s Ascent (Astronomy & Astrophysics) Humanity needs a new home, and Sputnik's Ascent tasks delegates with finding one. Working through fragmented data, the laws of relativity, and the full breadth of real astrophysics, teams must construct a coherent picture of the cosmos under sustained pressure. Three rounds spanning analytical, verbal, and practical challenges build toward a grand finale that demands ingenuity, adaptability and scientific conviction in equal measure. Rodney’s Rover (Robotics) A category forged in legacy. Rodney’s Rover takes its inspiration from Burr, the figure who defined what ISL Robotics could be, and carries with it the standard he set. What begins on the workbench ends in the arena, where robots built by hand go head to head in a contest that rewards precision, creativity, and the ability to think on your feet when your machine is on the line. 8 Silicon 4D41 (Computer Science) Every system has a foundation. Silicon 4D41 starts at the bottom of it. From the binary logic that underpins all computation to the high-level architecture of C++ programs, this category spans the full vertical of Computer Science, ICT, and digital design. Delegates will be tested across hardware, software, graphics, networking, and everything in between, navigating a discipline that has quietly become the language of the modern world. Einstein Files (Physics Debates) Science advances through disagreement, and Einstein Files places delegates at the heart of that tradition. Built around open-ended phenomena at the frontiers of physical understanding, this category demands more than recall. Delegates must take a position, construct arguments that hold under scrutiny, and engage with competing perspectives without losing the thread of their own. For those who find physics most alive when the answer is not yet settled, this is the category built for them. Vigenère's Veil (Cryptography) Named after 16th century cryptographer, de Vigenère, Vigenère's Veil plunges participants into the shadowy world of codebreaking and encryption. Teams race through cipher challenges, logic puzzles, and cryptographic decoding rounds. Observation, deduction, and pattern recognition are your only weapons. Can you lift the veil? 9 Adler’s Complex (Psychology) Drawing its name from Alfred Adler, father of individual psychology, this category navigates human behaviour, cognitive theory, and psychological phenomena through analytical case study evaluations, and live behavioural challenges. It rewards those who understand what drives people, and what breaks them. The Pandora Papers (Environment) A confidential leak has exposed a major corporation's environmental violations. The case is now before the court. The Pandora Papers challenges delegates to step into the roles of prosecutor and defence, building arguments grounded in environmental science, real-world policy, and the weight of documented evidence. This category rewards those who understand not just what happened to the environment, but why it matters and who is responsible. Making the case requires both. Civil Symposium (Engineering) Engineering is problem solving under constraint, and Civil Symposium is built on that premise. Delegates will design, build, and adapt across a layered series of challenges that test structural ingenuity, precision, and sound engineering judgment. Conditions will be unpredictable. Resources will be limited. The teams that succeed will be those who find elegant solutions where others find dead ends. 10 Sadequain’s Studio (Art & Media) In tribute to Sadequain, the self-taught painter and muralist who redrew what Pakistani art could look like, this category navigates visual composition, design, and narrative craft through timed studio briefs, photography, and film. It rewards those who see what everyone else overlooks, and can make everyone else see it too. Goldmann’s Gambit (Entrepreneurship) The market does not reward good intentions. Goldmann's Gambit places delegates within the demanding world of tech entrepreneurship, spanning startup ideation, stock markets, investment strategy, and live negotiation. Teams are expected to think commercially, act decisively, and present their vision with clarity and conviction. In this category, a strong idea is only the starting point. Execution is what determines the outcome. The Last Sin (Forensics) A crime has been committed. The Last Sin tasks delegates with solving it. Working through a simulated criminal investigation, teams must examine evidence, apply forensic methodology, and build a case that holds up to scrutiny. This category rewards scientific reasoning, attention to detail, and the ability to construct a clear, logical conclusion from incomplete information. 11 The Quest of Erebor (Fandom) Not every battle is fought in a laboratory. The Quest of Erebor is Ingenium's celebration of the stories, worlds, and characters that have defined a generation of young minds. Delegates will spin the wheel, recreate iconic movie moments on stage, and go head to head in a winner takes all game show finale that rewards pop culture knowledge, performance, and the willingness to commit fully to the moment. This category is unashamedly fun, and it takes that seriously 12 STARGAZING SESSION THE OBSERVATORY ISL’s annual stargazing session for all INGENIUM delegates returning on 29th August, 2026 REGISTRATION DETAILS All Participating teams are to register through the Online Registration form, available on the Ingenium 26 Website.
