BATHROOM SUPERVISION & PRIVACY POLICY
To ensure client safety, dignity, and privacy, staff must follow the procedures below:
• Clients who are independent with toileting should be allowed privacy while using the
restroom. Staff should remain immediately outside the bathroom door with the door slightly
cracked to maintain supervision and ensure client safety.
• When assisting a client with toileting, hygiene, clothing changes, or brief changes, staff
must keep the bathroom door partially open at all times.
• Staff should position themselves to maintain the client’s privacy and dignity while
ensuring appropriate visibility and supervision.
• Staff should provide the least intrusive level of assistance necessary while maintaining
the client’s dignity and privacy.
• Clients should never be left unattended when assistance or supervision is required.
• All staff are expected to follow client-specific supervision requirements, treatment plans,
and clinic policies regarding restroom use.
• Any questions regarding toileting or hygiene procedures should be directed to a
supervising BCBA or Clinical Director.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all
clients.
