Introduction
Welcome to GEM Trailblazer Summer programme.
The arrival guide has been compiled to help you to make a head start before classes
commence. Please take some time to go through the information that we have
specially prepared for you.
If you have any questions after reading through this guidebook, please contact the

Course Registration and Immersion
Course registration
All course registrations have been completed for GEM Trailblazer Summer Programme
before classes commence. Course registration is therefore not needed.
Students are not allowed to withdraw or drop courses once class commences.
Course materials, tests, or announcements may be uploaded by the course lecturers in
NTULearn.
Social and Cultural Activities*
As part of our welcome programme, several activities will be organised. We strongly
encourage you to participate in these activities. Please register through the student

NTU Network Account and Email Account
Each non-graduating/ exchange student is issued with the following user accounts.
It is important that you activate these accounts by 15 June to have accessed to the
teaching materials, etc.
A) Network account (for all NTU e-services which require user login or
authentication, including iNTU Intranet portal, NTULearn e-Learning portal,
Library databases, campus network and computers)
How to activate your NTU network account
You would need to first activate your NTU network account by changing your
password. (https://pwd.ntu.edu.sg)

Password: [Default password will be your date of birth in the numeric format

B) Office 365 email account (Your email mailbox is hosted on Office 365 EDU)
How to activate your NTU email account
You will need to activate your NTU email account separately.

We would like to remind you to check your NTU e-mail account regularly and ensure

NTULearn
In NTU, more than 90% of the courses offered has an online presence in NTULearn.
Students can access the course sites to download course materials, view recorded
video lecture recordings, attempt quizzes, submit assignment papers for originality
check; contribute in blogs and wikis; participate in discussion forum and other
learning activities.
Instructions to access NTULearn
A) Go to https://ntulearn.ntu.edu.sg

B) Key in USERNAME and PASSWORD of NTU Network Account and click
“Login”
USERNAME: Matric Card Number
PASSWORD: Default – DDMMYYY (Please key in your own password after
activating your network account)

C) Click “courses” to view the list of courses in which you are enrolled.
D) Refer to the box on the left of the website, click on “Content” to access the
materials of your selected course.

E) Click on the folder to view the course material uploaded by the lecturer.
F) Click on the file link to access and download the document.

On Campus Accommodation
All Summer students are guaranteed on-campus housing based on twin sharing.
Your allocated Hall address will be sent to you via email before your arrival in
Singapore.
Your student hostel room is furnished with a bed, mattress, study table, chair,
wardrobe, bookshelf, and soft board (to pin notes on, etc.). Ethernet connection is
available in each room. Wi-Fi is available only in common rooms. Bedding, bed linen,
pillows and blankets are not provided. You may consider bringing your own personal
items or you may purchase them when you arrive in Singapore.

Security matters should be referred to Campus Security located at NS1-B1-06 (use
lift NS1-1). The staff are on duty 24/7.
24-Hour Campus Security
Campus Security Division officers conduct surveillance using the CCTV system and
intrusion detection systems installed at strategic locations around the campus. They
will attend to the activation of the alarms to resolve any security issue
A low crime rate, however, does not mean that there is no crime.

Travelling within Campus
Campus Rider (Internal Shuttle Bus Services)
There are various shuttle bus routes serving the campus.
Campus Loop - Blue (CL-B) & Campus Loop - Red (CL-R) circle the campus
with Campus Rider (CR) venturing off-campus to and from Pioneer MRT station. On
weekends and holidays, Campus Rider becomes Campus Weekend Rider (CWR)
with an extended route.

Safety
NTU is an open and large campus. Every NTU's student has an important part to play
towards ensuring a safe and secure campus. Be aware of your vulnerability and use
safety tips to protect yourself and your valuables. Do not present a target like
exposing large amount of cash. Do not present an opportunity like leaving valuables
unattended.

Vaping & Smoking On-Campus
Vaping
E-vaporisers are illegal in Singapore. Under the Tobacco (Control of
Advertisements and Sale) Act, the possession, use or purchase of e-vaporisers
carries a maximum fine of $2,000. It is also an offence to import, distribute, sell
or offer for sale e-vaporisers and their components.
Smoking
The minimum legal age for the purchase, use, possession, sale and supply of
tobacco products is 21 years old. Smoking is allowed within Designated Smoking
Areas (DSA) in Singapore.
