Exploring Values with ACT
How Does Your Garden Grow?
Imagine that your values are a garden, and below
are some of the rows in your garden.
Write some values that you would like to grow,
like being a father, mother, or friend. You can also
write ones like self-care. You could put exercise,
play, or spirituality. Also put some of the patterns
that you would like to grow that are connected
to these values. For example, Value: Being a
good father. Patterns: Being patient, reliable,
kind.
Feel free to plant more than one row in this
garden.
A flock of birds may show up overhead, squawking “that’s impossible”, “I can’t”, “I always...”,
or “I never...” If they do, see if you can look up, give them a wave, and come gently back to
your garden.
