Test and Exam Instructions
Individual course professors may have additional exam instructions. Please be aware of individual course
directions.
Note: Please be aware that many people have allergies. Due to this, no food or scents will be tolerated in
the testing room.
•
It is advised that you arrive to the testing room at least 15 minutes before the test starts. If you arrive
late for your test, you will be not be given any extra time at the end for any time missed. If you arrive
more than 30 minutes after the start of the exam, you may not be permitted to write the exam. No
student will be allowed to enter the room after another student has left.
•
Use the washroom facilities, if needed, before entering the classroom.
•
Wait outside of the room until the professor instructs you to enter. Then, follow the instructions of
the faculty invigilating the test as they will tell you where you should sit. There should be no talking
upon entering the testing room.
•
All student coats, hats, books, bags, purses that are brought into the test/exam room must be left at
the front or back of the room.
•
Test papers, pencils and scantrons are placed on the desks in the room. Students must not move the
papers to sit in another seat. Do not touch the exams or scantrons until instructed by the professor.
•
You cannot have any unapproved electronic devices with you while you are writing the exam. This
includes any device that can store data or access the internet, such as phones, smart watches, and
earbuds. These devices must be left with your other personal possessions.
•
You must have your Algonquin College Student Identification card or clinical ID. Failure to have your
student ID may result in a delay of your mark being posted until you have shown your professor your
ID.
•
At your desk, you are allowed only your student identification card and pencils, erasers, highlighters,
etc. All scantron tests must be completed using a normal HB pencil.
•
You are permitted only clear or transparent water bottles if desired, which must be kept on the floor
to avoid any accidents from spills.
•
During the test, it is the student’s responsibility to protect their tests, scantrons and scrap paper from
the view of other students.
•
The scantron sheets, if used, must be filled out during the exam time. If time expires, students will
not be given any extra time to fill out scantron sheet. Be aware that only the scantron is marked.
•
No student will be allowed back into the testing room after leaving.
•
Those found violating academic integrity (including having electronic devices on your person) will be
subject to investigation as per Algonquin College Policy AA48: Academic Integrity.
IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND THE TEST:
•
Please refer to Algonquin College Policy AA21: Deferred Evaluation for the formal policy which applies
to the tests and final exam. Please be aware of the following from the Policy, in particular that the
professor generally must be notified prior to the start of the assessment:
3. Students can request to have an evaluation rescheduled if one of the following eligibility criteria
is met:
3.1 Suffer from a serious illness resulting in the inability to be present for a scheduled
evaluation;
3.2 Have legal obligations such as jury duty or court appearances;
3.3 Face significant personal circumstances such as family bereavement or family crisis;
3.4 Have a conflict with religious observance.
4. Students are to notify their professor of their absence in writing and of the need for a
rescheduled evaluation as soon as possible, before or, in extenuating circumstances, immediately
after the evaluation is missed, normally within three (3) working days.
•
To reschedule, you will need to contact the AC Test Centre. An email is preferable, and be sure to send
the email to both the Test Centre and the professor. You must contact the Test Centre within two
business days upon your return to the college.

You must book your appointment for the earliest possible date when you are free from clinical / other
classes. They require the booking to occur 7 days in advance, and there is a $30 cost associated with
this service (which must be paid at least 2 days before the exam). Be sure to include in your email
details about when you are not available - for example, due to clinical placements or other classes.
This will help them with booking.
•
Please note that the AC Test Centre is not the same as the CAL Test Centre. If you are a CAL student,
please discuss with your professor within two business days upon your return to the college the best
way to reschedule your exam.
