CM 222 Introduction to Statics and Mechanics of
Materials
Assignment #13
Due by Tuesday, April 7th before the class
Chapter 3 (20 Points)
Problem 1
Determine reactions RA, and RB. Point A is a hinge and Point B is a roller.
Problem 2
Determine reactions RA, and RB. Point A is a hinge and Point B is a roller.
Problem 3
Determine reactions RA, and RB. A distance between Point A and B is 19ft. Point A is a hinge and
Point B is a roller.
1
Problem 4
Determine reactions RA, and RB. A distance from Point A to Point B is 18m. Point A is a hinge
and Point B is a roller.
To get full credits, you need to draw an FBD showing unknown reactions with directions as your
assumption and known forces and check your assumptions using arrow heads at the end as we did
in the class and you need to show how you compute equivalent concentrate loads and their
centroids.
Remark
1) This assignment is a handwritten assignment.
2) No late assignment is accepted.
3) Do not have to write problems. Just solve the problems with a problem number.
4) Show all your work (arithmetic) like 2 x 4 = 8.
5) Studying together is a good way to learn. But if some of you have the same solution line
by line, saying “we study together,” then it will be considered as cheating. In this case,
you will have a zero “0” in grade for a specific problem or a whole assignment.
6) Your problem solving logic should be yours instead of somebody else’s.
7) If you use chegg or similar resources to do your assignment, you will get a zero “0”
grade. If you understand the materials, then do the assignment at your own way.
8) The answer must have a proper unit. (Any answers with a wrong unit get marked off
some points and any answers without a unit gets zero “0” in grade.)
