II. Background and Rationale of WAP:
The PD Program aims to enhance teachers’ competencies in implementing effective reading remediation strategies for Grade 1 learners who are at risk of
reading difficulties. The program equips teachers with evidence-based instructional approaches to improve learners’ phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency,
vocabulary, and reading comprehension.
This Workplace Application Plan is designed to ensure the practical application of the strategies learned from the Aral Series Master Class to support early
grade learners in developing foundational reading skills and to improve overall reading performance.
The following professional standards/competencies are being addressed:
Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST):
Indicators 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 2.4, 3.1, and 3.4
