Goal 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive
employment and decent work for all: Hosting a large-scale event such as a World Cup
creates job opportunities. For example, people can work in the organization and logistics
of the event. Also, it boosts tourism in the host country mainly in the host city and its
surroundings, supporting local economies.
Dataset
Included in the submissions.
The dataset contains information about the economic activity of Jalisco, the GDP of
“pueblos magicos” which are the most important places in the state for tourism, and the
infrastructure for lodging and the capacity the state has for receiving tourists. I chose it
because it contains information about the state of the host city assigned.
Why is the dataset useful?
The dataset is useful for the project because I can analyze how an event like the World
Cup can impact the economic activity and employment rates in the most touristic areas
of the state. With data mining, I can detect patterns such as increased economic activity
in high-tourism periods.
