Title: Mental Health Awareness, Service Accessibility, and Their Effects on Psychological Well-Being
Among Adolescents
Introduction
Mental health challenges among adolescents represent a growing public health concern worldwide.
Adolescence is a critical developmental period characterized by heightened vulnerability to
psychological disorders such as anxiety, depression, and stress-related conditions. Recent
epidemiological studies indicate a steady rise in mental health concerns among adolescents, yet
utilization of professional mental health services remains disproportionately low.
This study seeks to examine the relationship between mental health awareness, accessibility of support
services, and psychological well-being among adolescents. By exploring both cognitive and structural
factors, this research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how adolescents navigate
mental health challenges.
Problem Statement
Despite increasing recognition of adolescent mental health issues, significant gaps remain between the
need for mental health services and actual service utilization. Barriers such as stigma, limited mental
health literacy, and unequal access to resources continue to prevent adequate care.
Purpose of the Study
The purpose of this study is to investigate how mental health awareness and access to mental health
support services influence psychological well-being among adolescents.
Research Questions
1. What is the relationship between mental health awareness and adolescents’ attitudes toward
seeking professional help?
2. What barriers limit adolescents’ access to mental health services?
3. To what extent does access to mental health support services predict psychological well-being
among adolescents?
Methodology
This study will employ a mixed-methods design using surveys and semi-structured interviews with
adolescents aged 13–18. Quantitative data will be analyzed using statistical methods, while qualitative
data will undergo thematic analysis.
Significance of the Study
This research contributes to academic understanding and informs educators, mental health
professionals, and policymakers on improving adolescent mental health interventions.
