Instruction Manual for Removal and Replacement of
the TouchTunes Vextrec Tower Computer and Internal
Components
Note: For all servicing of the Vextrec Tower Computer follow these steps before any
internal maintenance is performed.
Step 1. Disconnect power cord
Step 2. Disconnect all cabling from rear face of unit (including all RCA jacks, Phone
and Modem jacks, etc.)
Step 4. Place unit on grounded work surface and wear static charge protective clothing
or a static wrist strap to avoid damaging the unit.

ISA Card Removal and Installation
Removal:
Step 1. Remove the three (3) sheet metal screws on back of unit and slide cover
backwards and off of unit completely.
Step 2. Remove clamping screw from frame.
Step 3. Grasp ISA Card on sheet metal flange and slide away from slot-connector on
motherboard. Slide card completely out of the connector.

Installation:
Step 1. Orient card into position and be sure to align metal flange into the slot on case.
Step 2. Align notches on the card with the slot connector and push rear corner into slotconnector. Insert other corner of card by pressing on the sheet metal flange,
making sure the card is completely docked to the connector.
Step 3. Reinstall clamping screw through flange on card.
Step 4. Align cover on unit and install three (3) sheet metal screws.

CPU/Fan Removal and Installation
Removal:
Step 1. Remove the three (3) sheet metal screws on rear of unit and remove cover.
Step 2. Disconnect three lead fan power supply from motherboard.
Step 3. Remove the four screws attaching the CPU Fan to the CPU Heat Sink.
(If replacing fan only, proceed to step 3 of installation)

Note: It is recommended to wear an anti-static wrist strap connected to the metal case to
prevent any static charges from damaging the processor.

Step 4. Depress wire clips on each side of fan and release from catch tabs. A flat blade
screwdriver may be needed to carefully slip the wire clips past the catches

Step 5. Pull locking lever into upright position to release the processor.
Step 6. Pull processor straight up and out of socket.
Installation:
Note: When handling the processor, never touch the pins, always hold processor/fan on
the sides.
Step 1. Carefully align pins into the processor socket on mother board and push in.
Step 2. Press wire catches on each side of fan onto catch tabs one at a time. You may
need to use a flat blade screwdriver to get the wire clips past the catches, being
careful not to damage the processor. Lower lock lever into locked position.
Step 3. Attach fan to CPU Heat Sink using the four screws.
Step 4. Connect 3-wire power lead into receiver on the motherboard.
Step 5. Align cover on unit and install three (3) sheet metal screws.

Lithium Clock Battery Removal and Installation
Removal:
Step 1. Remove the three (3) sheet metal screws on rear of unit and remove cover.
Step 2. Locate the lithium clock battery (Type CR 2032) on motherboard adjacent to the
CPU.
Step 3. Using a small straight blade depress catch away from battery until the battery
releases from catch.

Installation:
Step 1. Press new battery into base, positive side out, until it snaps into place.
Step 2. Align cover on unit and install eight (8) sheet metal screws.

RAM Card Removal and Installation
Removal:
Step 1. Remove the three (3) sheet metal screws on rear of unit and remove cover.
Step 2. Depress the two(2) white catch tabs on either side of RAM card until card
releases from DIMM slot connector and remove.

Installation:
Note- There is only one orientation in which the memory card can be inserted into the
dock. Be sure to properly align the notches on the edge of the card correctly before
installation or the card or slot connector may be damaged
.
Step 1. Orient memory card into position and firmly push both sides of card into DIMM
connector until white catch tabs lock into sides of memory card, making sure both
catches are locked into side notches on RAM card.
Step 2. Align cover on unit and install three (3) sheet metal screws.

Sound Card A Removal and Installation
Removal:
Step 1. Remove the three (3) sheet metal screws on rear of unit and remove cover.
Step 2. Remove tab clamp screw on sound card.

Step 3. Grasp sound card on sheet metal flange and pull out from slot-connector on
motherboard. Remove card completely out of the connector.

Step 4. Remove the 4 wire power lead from the connector and remove the ribbon cable
from the card before replacement.
Installation:
Step 1. Connect the 4 wire power lead and the ribbon cable to the sound card A.
Step 2. Align the notches on the sound card with the slot connector on the motherboard
and insert, firmly pushing the sound card into the connector.
Step 3. Replace clamp screw through metal flange and make sure card is securely in
place.
Step 4. Align cover on unit and install three (3) sheet metal screws.

Sound Card B Removal and Installation
Removal:
Step 1. Remove the three (3) sheet metal screws on rear of unit and remove cover.
Step 2. Remove tab clamp screw on sound card

Step 3. Grasp Sound Card on sheet metal flange and pull out from slot-connector on
motherboard. Remove card completely out of the connector.

Installation:
Step 1. Align the notches on the sound card with the slot connector on the motherboard
and insert, firmly pushing the sound card into the connector.
Step 2. Replace clamp screw through metal flange and make sure card is securely in
place.
Step 3. Align cover on unit and install three (3) sheet metal screws.

Network Card Removal and Installation
Removal:
Step 1. Remove the three (3) sheet metal screws on rear of unit and remove cover.
Step 2. Remove tab clamp screw on network card.

Step 3. Grasp network card on sheet metal flange and pull out from slot-connector on
motherboard. Remove card completely out of the connector.

Installation:
Step 1. Align the notches on the network card with the slot connector on the motherboard
and insert, firmly pushing the network card into the connector.
Step 2. Replace clamp screw through metal flange and make sure card is securely in
place.
Step 3. Align cover on unit and install three (3) sheet metal screws.

Hard Drive Removal and Installation
Removal:
Step 1. Remove the thumb screw adjacent to the hard drive.
Step 2. Grasp the hard drive by the handle and pull out of slot.

Installation:
Note- Take care in installing the hard drive by making sure the pins are correctly aligned
or the pins may be bent and damaged during installation.
Step 1. Insert the hard drive into the slot keeping a small amount of pressure on the front
of the unit by pulling up while sliding the drive in. Gently push the hard drive into
the slot until the face is flush with the case. DO NOT FORCE THE HARD
DRIVE IN. If the hard drive will not easily enter the slot then the pins are not
correctly aligned, these must be aligned before the hard drive will properly dock
into the connector.
Step 2. Replace thumb screw.

Graphics Card Removal and Installation
Removal:
Step 1. Remove the three (3) sheet metal screws on rear of unit and remove cover.
Step 2. Remove tab clamp screw on sound card

Step 3. Grasp Graphics Card on sheet metal flange and pull out from slo t-connector on
motherboard. Remove card completely out of the connector.

Installation:
Step 1. Align the notches on the graphics card with the slot connector on the motherboard
and insert, firmly pushing the sound card into the connector.
Step 2. Replace clamp screw through metal flange and make sure card is securely in
place.
Step 3. Align cover on unit and install three (3) sheet metal screws.

Power Supply Removal and Installation
Removal:
Note: Always make sure Power Cord is disconnected before any work to the power
supply is done.
Note: Be extremely cautious when handling the power supply, the capacitors may
discharge if the contacts form a circuit.
Step 1. Remove the three (3) sheet metal screws on top of unit and remove cover.
Step 2. Remove the four (4) screws attaching the power supply to the rear case. These
screws are located at each corner of the power supply.
Step 3. Slide power supply unit towards the front of the case to clear the two sheet metal
tabs

Step 4. Disconnect the power leads to the motherboard, D-Card, grounding wire, and I/O
switch located on front of computer.
Step 5. Remove power supply and attached wires.
Installation:
Step 1. Set power supply into case and run the attached wires though the cut-out in
internal case.
Step 2. Align the sheet metal tabs and screw holes on the power supply with case and
install the screws.
Step 3. Install the power leads to the corresponding connectors.
Step 4. Align cover on unit and install three (3) sheet metal screws
