students, stable internet allows meaningful participation in virtual classrooms. Employees benefit
from the flexibility of remote work, reducing time lost to commuting. Even families separated by
distance rely on digital platforms to remain connected.
Within the Philippines, the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) has
established itself as a central force in the nation’s telecommunications landscape. Since its
founding in 1928, PLDT has consistently expanded its services, evolving from traditional
telephone connections to a comprehensive suite of mobile and internet offerings. The company
has continually invested in digital innovation to address the shifting needs of its customers.
PLDT’s core commitment lies in fostering stronger connections among individuals, supporting
community development, and enabling business growth through robust, dependable, and
accessible communication and internet services. This approach has sustained PLDT’s position as
an industry leader across generations.

Problem Statement
PLDT is one of the biggest and most trusted telecommunications companies in the Philippines,
but it still has a lot of problems that hurt its performance and customer satisfaction. A lot of people
say that the internet is slow, the connections are unreliable, and the customer service is slow to
respond. There are also times when service is interrupted because of technical problems or
maintenance work. This can be annoying for people who need the internet for work or school.
Also, the telecommunications industry is more competitive now, with companies like Globe,
Converge, and DITO offering faster speeds and cheaper packages. This means that PLDT needs
to keep coming up with new ideas and making its services better to keep its good name and stay
at the top of the industry. The main issue is how PLDT can keep giving its customers reliable and
consistent service while dealing with these technical and competitive issues.
III.
Objectives
The goal of this case study is to look at how PLDT keeps its reputation as one of the most
trusted telecommunications companies in the country and how it delivers its value proposition. It
seeks to ascertain the principal factors that render PLDT’s services beneficial to customers and to
elucidate how the company meets its commitments to quality service, robust connectivity, and
technological advancement. The study also wants to look at the problems that PLDT faces, like
service outages, bad customer service, and competition from other companies. Finally, the study
aims to provide actionable suggestions for PLDT to enhance its network, fortify customer
relations, and increase overall user satisfaction.

Methodology
This case study applies a qualitative research methodology. I got information from a lot of
different places, like PLDT's official website, news articles, company publications, and reliable
online sources. The information that was gathered is mostly about PLDT's past, its services, its
network growth, and what customers have said about it. The study also looks at how PLDT keeps
improving its systems and how it responds to complaints from the public about how well they
work. The research seeks to comprehend how PLDT conveys its value proposition to various
customer segments, ranging from typical households to substantial enterprises. The data that was
gathered was looked at to show the company's strengths, weaknesses, and ongoing efforts to make
its service better

PLDT began its operations in 1928 as a telephone company, providing landline services to
Filipino households and businesses. Over time, it has evolved into a major telecommunications
and digital solutions provider, serving millions of customers across the Philippines. The company

Filipinos to access faster internet speeds and enhanced digital experiences. The company
consistently pursues improvements, introducing new technologies and digital platforms that
streamline work and communication.
At the same time, challenges remain. Customers continue to report service interruptions and
delays in repairs or response times. These issues can damage the company’s reputation and prompt
users to consider competitors. Emerging providers such as Converge and DITO are rapidly
broadening their reach and offering lower prices, intensifying competitive pressure. In response,
PLDT invests heavily in infrastructure, customer support, and digital transformation to enhance
the user experience. Its established history and strong brand reputation remain significant
advantages in an increasingly competitive market.

Recommendations
For PLDT to maintain its leading position in the telecommunications industry, it must address
several critical areas. First, expanding the fiber network remains essential, particularly in provinces
and remote communities where reliable internet access is still lacking. Increasing coverage in these
underserved areas not only improves connectivity but also supports broader economic and
educational development. Equally important is the modernization of customer service.
Streamlining support channels through online chat, mobile applications, and social media makes
it easier for customers to report issues and receive timely assistance. Efficient customer support
directly influences user satisfaction and loyalty.
Further, PLDT should design service plans that reflect the varied needs of students,
professionals, and small business owners. Flexible and affordable options, along with meaningful
loyalty programs or discounts for long-term subscribers, can enhance customer retention and
attract new users. Transparent communication with the public is also crucial. Regular updates
regarding service improvements, maintenance activities, and upcoming technological
advancements foster trust and demonstrate accountability. By strengthening these areas, PLDT
reinforces public confidence, attracts a broader customer base, and sustains its leadership in the
sector.
