2025 - 2026 8th Grade Points Policy Casimir Middle School prioritizes maintaining the integrity of the learning environment as a top priority. That includes supporting positive behavior in and out of the classroom Our Schoolwide PBIS Behavior Expectations are the following: Cougar Code Be Safe. Be Respectful. Be Responsible. Be Successful. At CMS, our 8th grade students have both school wide and additional 8th grade privileges to celebrate their promotion to high school. These privileges are earned by following the Cougar Code and remaining in good standing with regards to these behavior expectations. The following point system will be in place for the school year to support this goal: Points Overview: Start with 100 Lose indicated points for the following: ● 5 points for each U in citizenship on each report card (can be redeemed in that class with an E the following quarter) ● 5 points for each major referral ● 4 points for each Saturday school ● 3 points for each minor referral ● 3 points for each detention ● 1 point for each N in citizenship on each report card Points required for each 8th grade or school wide activity 75 or more- participate in all school wide activities 70-74 points- No school wide/PBIS activities 70 or more- participate in all 8th grade activities 60-69 points- No 8th Grade Picnic 50-59- No Picnic or 8th Grade Dance Below 50- No Picnic, No Dance, No Promotion Ceremony Minor referral examples (up to 15 points may be made up by coordinating service opportunities with AP) ● Minor harassment (under teacher discretion) ● Dress code ● Backpacks ● Technology violation (cellphones, misuse of chromebooks, airpods/earphones,etc.) ● Plagiarizing/Cheating (under teacher discretion) Major referral examples (points CANNOT be made up) ● Harassment (under teacher discretion) ● Technology violation (under teacher discretion) ● Fighting ● Plagiarizing/Cheating (under teacher discretion) 8th grade Points Policy in full effect on: Monday, 9/15/25 (Sign and turn in on Registration Day: 8/14/25) -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------We have reviewed the CMS 8th grade points policy and understand that permission to attend each 8th grade activity is based on this policy.
