IV. PROCEDURES
A. Review of previous lesson /
Presenting the new lesson
B. Establishing a purpose for the
lesson
C. Presenting examples /
instances of the new lesson
Begin the class by displaying a few images of different weld defects on the board or screen.
Ask students to silently observe the images and jot down any observations or thoughts they have about the
defects.
After a couple of minutes, initiate a class discussion by asking students to share their observations and
thoughts about the weld defects.
Encourage students to discuss possible causes and consequences of each defect.
Divide students into small groups of 3-4 members.
Provide each group with a set of sample welds containing various defects.
Instruct students to carefully examine the sample welds, identify the defects present, and discuss their
observations within their groups.
Encourage students to use their prior knowledge and the key vocabulary discussed to describe and categorize
the defects.
Circulate among the groups to facilitate discussions and address any questions or misconceptions.
D. Discussing new concepts and
practicing new skills #1
Conduct a brief class discussion about different types of welding defects students have encountered or heard
about in their previous experiences.
E. Discussing new concepts and
practicing new skills #2
Introduce the different types of weld defects through a PowerPoint presentation, highlighting their physical
characteristics and potential causes.
Show examples of perfect welds alongside defective welds to help students spot the differences.
Discuss the importance of weld defect identification and remedies in various industries, such as construction,
manufacturing, or automotive.
Gather the whole class back together and display the sample welds on a larger screen.
Lead a class discussion to collectively identify and label the defects on each sample weld.
As students contribute, encourage them to explain the characteristics and potential causes of each defect.
Introduce and explain the appropriate remedies for each defect, based on industry standards and project
requirements.
Clarify any misconceptions and reinforce key vocabulary as necessary.
F. Developing mastery (Leads to
Formative Assessment)
G. Finding Practical applications
of concepts and skills in daily
living
H. Making generalizations and
abstractions about the lesson
I.
Evaluating Learning
J.
Additional activities for
application or remediation
V. REMARKS
VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned
80% in the evaluation
B. No. of learners who require
additional activities for
remediation who scored
below 80%
C. Did the remedial lesson work?
No. of learners who have
caught up with the lesson
D. No. of learners who continue
to require remediation
E. Which of my teaching
strategies worked well? Why
did these work
Give each group a different set of sample welds, containing both defects and non-defective welds.
Instruct the groups to identify and label the defects, as well as suggest appropriate remedies for each defect.
Encourage students to engage in meaningful discussions and decision-making processes within their groups.
Monitor the groups and provide guidance or clarification as needed.
Summarize the lesson by highlighting the key points discussed throughout the class.
Emphasize the importance of identifying weld defects accurately and addressing them appropriately in
accordance with job requirements.
Connect the lesson to the real-world applications of welding and the significance of producing high-quality welds.
Administer a written assessment where students are given images of welds and asked to identify defects and
suggest appropriate remedies.
Conduct a practical assessment where students are required to identify and remedy actual weld defects on
provided samples.
Each student should repair 2 chairs with defects within the week.
F. What difficulties did I
encounter which my principal
or supervisor can help me?
G. What innovation or localized
materials did I us / discover
which I wish to share with
other teachers?
