MODULE 1 PAPER
SCRIPT
INTRODUCTION:
Greetings fellow human beings! It is my pleasure to invite you all to venture into my digital
representation of myself based on how I understood the Module 01 containing Self and Identity,
Philosophical, and Scientific Views about the Self.
BODY:
1. Self and Identity:
- Self and Identity contain two life factors–Nature and Nurture. These different life
factors are also affected by four more factors namely: Social, Environmental,
Hereditary, and Personal-Volition Factors. These factors complement one another that
will ultimately shape one’s being. As mentioned in the First Part, Nature is the
structurally studied molecular level of a human’s entirety, containing our Genetics. A
symbolism of Nature that I added is a Grapevine. Each grape that thrives serves as the
characteristics that I have inherited from my parents. On the other hand, Nurture, is, as I
would like to call, the Developed Nature. These grapes are nourished by my Social,
Environmental, Hereditary, and Personal-Volition. As mentioned above for each grape,
if one does not fit my lifestyle, the grape would rot and then fall off, giving new space for
a new quality to grow.
2. Philosophical Views Imbibed about the Self:
- As we all know, Philosophy is the academic discipline of studying one’s knowledge,
reality, and existence. This area of Module 01 has deepened my learning of one’s
understanding of the self from the timeline of Classical Antiquity to Modern Times. As
for me, Socrates’ orientation of Idealism is what currently fits best of my understanding
of finding one’s truth. It was mentioned that Self-Knowledge will come with Ultimate
Virtue that will then lead to Happiness. My symbolism that I have expressed in this area
is my acknowledgement of the Grapevines–concluding Knowledge about one’s quality
and personification of the good rather than evil, which is said to be Ignorance.
3. Scientific Views Imbibed about the Self:
- Lastly, also connected to Self and Identity, “The Science of the Self.” It contains
Physical Sciences and Social Sciences, learning about Neurophilosophy,
Psychoneuroimmunology, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, and Political Science.
This understanding will help us to navigate our consciousness, learning about the self’s
fundamental core, inner dynamics, and environment. This is explored by observation and
experiment of one’s structure and behavior.
Conclusion:
- In conclusion, the (1) Self and Identity is a product of both Innate Qualities and Developed
Experiences, continuously shaped by Social, Environmental, Hereditary, and Personal Factors.
Through (2) Philosophy, particularly Socratic Idealism, we learn that true Self-Knowledge is the
path to virtue and happiness, while (3) Scientific Views provides a deeper understanding of our
structure, consciousness, and behavior. Together, these perspectives highlight that Self-Discovery
is a lifelong process of Growth, Reflection, and Adaptation.
