Marx’s Concept of Class:
Two main classes in modern society:
Bourgeoisie (Capitalists): Own factories, land, machines the means of production.
Proletariat (Workers): Do not own production; they sell their labor to survive.
According to Marx, communism is a classless society where technology reduces hard
labor, private ownership ends, and people work together for the common good.
Weber’s Stratification :
Class~Economic resources (wealth, income, skills, education)~Software engineer
earns high income due to skills
Status~Social honor, prestige, respect~Religious leaders in Bangladesh respected
even if not rich
Party~Power and influence in decision-makingPolitical leaders
