Dear Parents,
As a social and educational responsibility, Lynx School System wants to make sure that all of its students and
parents are aware of crucial information about avoiding and treating conjunctivitis. "Pink Eye". You can
protect yourself and others around you from conjunctivitis, which can be a troublesome condition, by taking a
few straightforward precautions and preventative steps.
What is Conjunctivitis (Pink-Eye)
Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, the thin tissue covering the eye`s white part and the
eyelids` inside. It can cause by viruses, bacteria, allergies, or irritants or characterised by symptoms like
redness, itching, discharge, and discomfort. Depending on the type of Pink-Eye infection (bacterial or Viral),
the infection can last between 3-5 days in bacterial cases and 7-14 days in complicated viral cases.
PREVENTION TIPS
Practice Good Hygiene: Always wash your hands with soap and water before touching your eyes. One of the
best methods to stop an infection from spreading and conjunctivitis is to wash your hands frequently.
Avoid Touching Your Eyes: Avoid touching or scratching your eyes because doing so might spread germs and
irritants.
Use Personal Items: Conjunctivitis is a highly contagious infection; therefore refrain from sharing personal
objects with others such towels, tissues, pillows, and makeup products.
Use of Tissues and Disposables: If you clean your eyes with tissues or other disposable items, dispose off
them properly to prevent the infection from spreading.
CARING FOR CONJUNCTIVITIS
Here are some actions to take if you have been diagnosed conjunctivitis.
Consult a Healthcare Professional: For an accurate diagnosis and treatment strategy, speak with a healthcare
professional or an eye specialist.
Follow treatment guidelines: Please strictly follow the directions given by consultant.
Practice Strict Hygiene: If your doctor has recommended eye drops or ointment, wash your hands regularly,
especially before and after using those products.
Keep Your Eyes Clean: Use clean hands often to wipe the discharge from your eyes with a damp, soft towel.
Keep your eyes hydrated: As instructed by the medical specialist.
Rest your eyes: Avoid activities that strain your eyes, such as reading and using a screen.
Important: Please refrain from going to public place until the infection is over. If your kid has conjunctivitis,
please let the teacher and/or school administration know right away. We place a high emphasis on the health
and wellbeing of each and every child, therefore keeping our home and workplace free from infectious
diseases is essential.
