Cinnamoroll
Good morning, Miss and classmates, today I am going to present about one of my
favorite characters, Cinnamoroll.
Creation and Design
To begin, let’s take a look at how Cinnamoroll came to life and what makes his design
so special. Cinnamoroll is a Sanrio character created in 2001 by artist Miyuki
Okumura. He started under the name Baby Cinnamon before being renamed
Cinnamoroll in 2002. His design features a white, chubby puppy with long, floppy
ears, big blue eyes, pink cheeks, and a curled tail that resembles a cinnamon roll.
The name “Cinnamoroll” reflects his unique tail design, and his gentle, cozy look
made him an instant hit, becoming the official mascot of the fictional Café Cinnamon
and one of Sanrio's most beloved characters.
Character Background (Universe)
Now that we know how he was created, let’s explore his magical background and
how he became part of the Sanrio universe. Cinnamoroll is sometimes described as
the son of the Sun and the Moon, a mystical origin that explains his magical ability
to float and his kind and pure-hearted nature. He is later described as a puppy born
from a cloud in the distant sky who on one day, while floating toward Earth, fell from
the clouds and was discovered by the owner of the Cinnamon Café, who saw him
gliding like a fluffy cloud and noticed that his tail resembled a cinnamon roll. She
named him Cinnamoroll and invited him to live at the café, where he soon became
her lovely pet.
Cinnamoroll is very shy but friendly. He loves to nap on the laps of coffee shop
customers, fly through the sky with his long ears, and enjoy delicious treats,
especially cinnamon rolls. His favorite things are sweets, soft places and spending
time with his friends. But, he is afraid of storms, scary noises and being left alone.
During one of his adventures, Cinnamoroll met his little sister, Poron. Poron, like
Cinnamoroll, was born from the clouds and shares his sweet and pure nature. They
met when Cinnamoroll was lost in the sky and found Poron with Cornet, a little
unicorn. They helped Cinnamoroll find his way and after this, they sometimes visit
the Café.
In addition to Poron and Cornet, Cinnamoroll also has two dear companions:
•
A small yellow bird, which often accompanies him during his flights and
adventures. Although Sanrio has never officially given him a name, the bird is
present in official illustrations and products.
•
A cute little white kitten named Shirotaro. Shirotaro loves to visit the garden
at Cinnamon Cafe. When Cinnamoroll met him, he affectionately called him
“Cotton” before learning that his real name was Shirotaro.
Friends
Besides his adorable origin, Cinnamoroll is never alone. At Café Cinnamon,
Cinnamoroll is surrounded by a wonderful group of puppy friends, each with a unique
personality:
•
•
•
•
•
Mocha: A stylish, talkative little puppy who acts as the big sister of the group.
She dreams of becoming a fashion designer.
Cappuccino: A relaxed, laid-back puppy who loves food and naps. His round
mouth looks like a coffee cup.
Chiffon: Sporty, energetic and adventurous. Loves running, jumping and
outdoor activities.
Espresso: A smart and intelligent puppy with curly ears. Loves to read books
and sometimes acts a bit snobbish.
Milk: The baby of the group, who carries a pacifier and looks Cinnamoroll as
a big brother.
Later, their world expanded and Coco and Nuts appeared, twin puppies who love to
explore and have exciting adventures.
Lloromannic: Rivals and Mischief
But of course, every story needs a little mischief, there are two mischievous rivals:
Berry and Cherry, known together as Lloromannic, which is Cinnamoroll's name
backwards.
•
•
Berry (purple) is intelligent and a bit manipulative.
Cherry (pink) is impulsive and emotional.
They live in a dark alternate world and sometimes cause trouble by trying to lure
Cinnamoroll to their dimension. Actually, Berry and Cherry are not really evil,
because they secretly admire Cinnamoroll's goodness and wish they could be part
of his bright and loving world.
Manga and Books
Out of the Sanrio’s universe, Cinnamoroll’s adventures are told in manga, books,
films and series, one example is Fluffy, Fluffy Cinnamoroll, which follows his story
from the clouds to Cinnamon Cafe. They also told the bond with other Sanrio
characters, especially Pompompurin, showing how different personalities can form
strong and joyful friendships.
At the end, Cinnamoroll isn’t just cute, he’s a reminder that kindness, dreams, and a
little bit of magic can make the world a brighter place.
Thank you for listening.
