Discussion:
The primary objectives of this experiment were to get a stress-strain curve and
determine the specimen's breaking tensile strength. The graph makes it clear
how closely stress and strain are related. The graph's curve experiences an
increase known as yielding as it reaches the proportional limit. At this point, the
material starts to undergo plastic deformation. A material becomes flexible and
may stretch without needing more stress once it reaches its yield point. The
strain grows in together with the tensile load until it reaches its maximum
tensile strength. The specimen can be stretched even more by decreasing the
weight. The graph shows the specimen's breaking point.
Conclusion:
According to the results of a tension test taken on a mild steel specimen, mild
steel has good toughness, high ductility, and high tensile strength. It is ideal for
applications requiring strength and the capacity to absorb energy under tensile
pressures since it can experience significant plastic deformation after failure.
