Ashadhi Ekadashi – Festival Of Devotion
Ashadhi Ekadashi is an important Hindu festival celebrated in June or July. On this day, many devotees
called Warkaris walk a long distance to Pandharpur to pray to Lord Vitthal (a form of Krishna).
This journey is called the Wari. It starts from places like Alandi and Dehu. Devotees carry Palkhis (special
palanquins).
People believe that on this day, Lord Vitthal gives blessings of peace and happiness. The festival shows
faith, love, and unity.

Sant Eknath
Sant Eknath was a great saint, poet, and devotee of Lord Vitthal from Maharashtra. He lived in the 16th
century and was born in a town called Paithan. Sant Eknath is known for spreading the message of love,
kindness, and equality.
He wrote many Abhangs, Bhajans, and poems in Marathi so that common people could understand
spiritual teachings.
Sant Eknath also translated parts of the Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana into Marathi, and is famous for
writing Eknathi Bhagwat.
