3 Similarities I. The video and the article go over and explain Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a model with 5 tiers of human motivation that are arranged in a pyramid form with the understanding that people must satisfy their lower-level basic needs before moving on to higher level needs. II. Another similarity is they describe the 5 different levels of the hierarchy including physiological needs, safety needs, love and belonging, esteem and self-actualization. Each tier in the pyramid gives examples of what those needs are such as physiological needs are food and water. III. Lastly, they both talk about how different things can happen in life with varying circumstances and needs not met at the lower level can mean that people may not go through all levels of needs. 1 Difference I. The article gives more information and goes deeper into the theory of Maslow’s Hierarchy than the video does. The video is a quick overview using more pictures. 1 Opinion I. I think Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs makes a lot of sense because it shows why people do certain things or have certain behavior. If someone is hungry or is in fight or flight mode, it’s harder for them to concentrate on growth and potential. It explains well how people’s needs can influence their behavior.
