for the war of 1857.
These following are the points which Sir

the government of the country.

Christianity.
3.The poor management of the Indian
army.
4.He told British that the word
‘NADARATH’ which is used by
Muslims to call British, does’nt mean to
insult them, this means ‘HELPER’.

which he pointed out the similarities b/w
Islam and Christianity.
Due to lack of resources, the work was
not finished, but it showed Sir
Syed’commitment to improve relations.

Muradabad, and in 1864 he opened
school in Ghazipore.
On May 24, Mohammedan AngloOriental college was set up in Aligarh on
the pattern of English public school
system.
This college had offered both Indian and
western style of education.
This then Became an educational
institution center and many future
leaders such as Liaquat Ali Khan was
educated here.
INCRESE POLITICAL AWARENESS
INDIAN NATIONAL CONGRESS
By Writing the pamphlet and The Loyal
Mohammeden of India he Improved
better relations with British.
He also believed that we should have
good relations with Hindus, as they had
a same ideas about the future.
But later on he came to know due to
different religions this was not possible
Hence he started to work on “TWO
NATION THEORY”.
In 1885, the congress was formed.
To represent the views of all nations and
communities.
But it became apparent that the
Congress was a Hindu-dominated body
which was working to establish Hindu
supermacy over the Muslims.
POLITICAL REPRESENTATION
COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION
A call by Congress for the introduction of
a democratic system of political
representation similar to that practices in
Britain.
Syed Ahmed Knew that there were
majority Hindus so they would win
election and democracy would leave the
Muslims with no representation at all.
Congress also suggested that
appointments in the government service
should be by competitive examination.
Since Muslims were not receiving
education of a standard similar to that
received by Hindus, this would greatly
disadvantage them. Sir Syed commented
that only when equal educational
opportunities were provided could such an
idea work.
LANGUAGE
Sir Syed Ahmed Khan was shocked when
he came to knew that Congress were
demanding Hindi to make official
language, which was a factor guiding
him towards “TWO NATION THEORY”.
This was not acceptable by him and he
defended Urdu and Muslims rights.
Congress was working in the interest of
Hindi and to harm Muslim community.
So from this Syed Ahmed Khan refuse to
attend the meetings.
He organized ‘UNITED PATRIOTIC
ALLIANCE’. In 1893 it became the
Mohammedan Defence Alliance.
The rivalry b/w both communities
increased, and In Bombay some Hindu
extremists began playing loud music
outside Mosques.
