Project Title
GUIDELINES
 This is a clear and comprehensive statement that states the real-world situation that is
going to be investigated or explained.
 It tells the reader what the project is about.
2
Introduction
GUIDELINES






Introduces the reader to the project.
What is the issue? Or What problem do I want to solve or explore?
Why the project was chosen?
What is the background of this issue or problem?
What are my objectives? Or What exactly do I need to find out from doing this piece?
Also includes a table of content. (This tells the reader where to find the different
sections of the project and is placed after the heading Introduction but before the
actual introduction is written)

METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION
GUIDELINES
 Data must be carefully collected.
 States exactly how and where the data for the project was collected.
Giving the details of the steps you took to collect your data (write this report in the past
tense, steps must be clear so that others can replicate the study).
 When doing your report state and use the correct data collection instruments
(tables, questionnaires, observation checklist, personal interviews, examination of
records etc.)
 Take the time to ensure that you record any limitations (problems) of your experiment
or investigation.
 Provide diagrams/ pictures to aid in showing the process if possible.
4
PRESENTATION OF DATA
GUIDELINES
 Your data must be organized logically and systematically using at least two carefully
labelled diagrams. Such as: Tables, Frequency Tables, Bar Graphs, Pie Charts,
Histograms, Frequency Polygons, Line Graphs, Cumulative Frequency Curves.
 All mathematical results must be presented accurately using appropriate formulae. Your
graphs, tables and or charts must fit the data you collected (represent continuous and
discontinuous data using the appropriate charts)
 Label your graphs (axes), tables, and charts with shorts statements telling what the
graph/chart is about. E.g. Figure 1 or table 1: Showing the responses …
 Some mathematical calculations can be done and presented in this section, for example the
Range, Mean, Median, Mode, Probability, Area, Volume, profit, loss, Hire Purchase Price,
Percentage etc. depending on the data collected.
5
ANALYSIS OF DATA
GUIDELINES




Here the meaning of the data presented must be discussed in a clear logical manner.
It must tell the reader what he or she must get from the data presented.
It must say how the findings are related to the objectives of the project.
Your role is to DESCRIBE the TRENDS and STATISTICAL FIGURES in the charts
from your presentation of data.
Describe your TRENDS with some of the following words to aid.
Increase
Small/minimal
Decrease
Steady/gradual/sharp/significant
consistency
Great/ reasonable/ fair.
 Do not explain anything in this section, do not tell why the trends are happening
 In cases where they are no specific pattern or direction, please note it and it can
describe as ‘fluctuation’
 Do the necessary comparisons of the data
6
DISCUSSIONS OF FINDINGS
GUIDELINES
 Clearly state the findings from the analysis of data. do not add new information! It
must match the information from your analysis of data.
 Discussion of the findings must be linked to the title and introduction of the project.
(you must return to the project title and the introduction for guidance.
 Now tell why the trends are happening.
 Tell how your limitations (problems while doing experiment) may have affected the
results.
 do any other necessary calculations needed to explain your findings, if needed.
7
CONCLUSION
GUIDELINES
 Clearly written concise paragraph linked to the purpose of the project.
 Always return to the introduction of the project and look at the purpose. It must discuss
and answer the purpose of the project.
 Summarize your results here
 Also ensure that you state what the results are for.
8
Works Cited
GUIDELINES
 Works Cited contains a list of all the sources such as books, newspaper, magazines and
websites which you used for the project.
 Every published work that you cite in your paper needs to appear in your Works Cited
list. When pulling material during your research, take note of all the important data so
that you can accurately fill out your Works Cited page. make sure to gather the
following data:
Author(s)
Title
Published date
Publisher
Publisher location
Medium (Print, web, film, DVD, etc.)
Page numbers/Act, or section and line numbers
Start alphabetically by author’s last name. Use the following basic formats as starting
points:[2]
 Books:
Last name, First name. Title. City of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication.
Medium.
 If the book has more than one author, only the first listed author goes last name first.
