1.1 Option Upgrade
The Cardio-Vascular Option enables steerable continuous-wave Doppler and an ECG Mod‐
ule for cardiac and vascular applications that require these fundamental capabilities.
Use this option upgrade procedure to add the following functions to an ACUSON X300
systems.

2.1 Overview
Follow the instructions below to install the Cardio-Vascular option to the ACUSON X300
PE systems r1.0 and r2.0. This upgrade involves the replacement and/or addition of the
RC-Daughter Board and the ECG Module.

Upgrading the ACUSON X300 takes approximately one hour.

System Preparation
Perform the EM module test (BIST) to ensure the system is fully operational before pro‐
ceeding to the upgrade procedure.
1. Power Off the system and set the Main switch to Off. Leave the power cord connec‐
ted to the wall outlet.
 WARNING
The X300 system contains hazardous voltages that can range from 90 VAC to 246
VAC and cause serous injury.
 Only authorized service personnel are permitted to remove protective covers
and access the energized components of this system.

2. Remove the right, left and rear covers. Refer to ( System Covers / US11-104.841.01).

Install the RC-Daughter Board
1. Remove the EM cover.
2. Remove the RC board. Refer to ( Remove the Boards / US11-104.841.01).
3. Carefully install the RC-Daughter Board to the removed RC Board and fasten with (2)
screws. Refer to ( Install the RC Daughter Board / US11-104.841.01).

4. Place the RC board into the system. Refer to ( Install the E Module and

2.2 Install the ECG Module

The ECG Module is the same as the Physio Module.
1. Remove the CD/DVD-R/RW and the ECG bracket from the system. Refer to ( Removing
the CD/DVD-R/RW and ECG / US11-104.841.01).

Replace the existing label with the ECG label on the ECG module bracket.

2. Connect the ECG module to the ECG module bracket with the provided (4) screws.

3. Connect the ECG module to the inter-board.

4. Place the DVD-R/RW and the ECG module bracket into the system. Refer to ( Install
the CD/DVD-R/RW and ECG / US11-104.841.01).
5. Install the front, left and right covers on the system. Refer to ( System Cov‐
ers / US11-104.841.01).
6. Set the Main switch to On and power On the system. Wait for the system to fully
boot-up.
7. Power Off the system and set the Main switch to Off.

2.3 Verification
1. Power On the system and wait for the completion of boot-up.
2. Press Preset key to display the Preset screen
3. Select Service from the left menu pane.
4. Select Service. The Service Authentication screen displays.
5. Log onto the system service software using a customer level or SAL 7. Click OK. The
Service Main Menu displays.
6. Select Configuration.
7. Select Hardware.
8. Scroll down the window and check if the replaced/installed boards are displayed with
their part number, Serial number and Revision level correctly.

3.1 Overview

3.2 Install the ECG Module

The ECG Module is the same as the Physio Module.

2. Remove the right, left and rear covers. Refer to ( System Covers / US11-104.841.01).
4.1.3
RC-Daughter Board Installation
1. Move the system to a level location that provides one meter of work space around the
system.
2. Disconnect the transducers from the system.
3. Remove the left, right, and rear covers. Refer to ( System Cov‐
ers / US11-104.841.01).
4. Remove the EM cover.
5. Remove the RC board. Refer to ( Remove the Boards / US11-104.841.01).
6. Carefully assemble the RC daughter to the removed RC board and fasten with (2)
screws. Refer to ( Install the RC Daughter Board / US11-104.841.01).

7. Place the RC board into the system. Refer to ( Install the E Module and
Boards / US11-104.841.01).

4.2 Install the Advanced ECG Module

The ECG Module is the same as the Physio Module.
1. Remove the CD/DVD-R/RW and the ECG module bracket from the system. Refer to
( Removing the CD/DVD-R/RW and ECG / US11-104.841.01).

Replace the existing label with the ECG label on the ECG frame.

2. Place the Advanced ECG module on the removed ECG Module bracket.

3. Flip the ECG Module bracket over and install the (4) screws.

4. Connect the Physio Inner Cable to the ECG Module and the other end to the Interboard.

5. Place the DVD-R/RW and the ECG Module bracket into the system. Refer to ( Install
the CD/DVD-R/RW and ECG / US11-104.841.01).
6. Install the right, left, front and rear system covers. Refer to ( System Cov‐
ers / US11-104.841.01).

4.3 Install Axius EF License

4.3.1
Refer to the user manual for instructions on how to properly install the optional license.
Prepare the system for the license load
This section describes the installation of the software-based optional license on the sys‐
tem using a CD/DVD drive.
1. Press Preset key to display the Preset screen.
2. Select Service from the left menu pane.
3. Select Service. The Service Authentication screen displays.
4. Log onto the syngo service software using a customer level or SAL 7. Click OK. The
Service Main Menu displays.

6. Select License & Components on the left side of the screen.

7. Press the eject button on the CD/DVD drive on the left side of the ultrasound system to
eject the CD/DVD tray.
8. Insert the License CD/DVD and press the Eject button again to load the CD/DVD.

9. Click Select New License File tab to install the license software.

10. Select Install New License. The system displays a window containing the available
software-based option license.
11. Select the software-based optional license to install.
12. Click Ok. The system installs the selected optional license. The selected optional li‐
cense is added to the list of installed licenses with the date of installation.


13. Select Save. A license installation message is displayed.

14. Press the eject button on the CD/DVD drive and remove the CD/DVD.
15. Select Home to exit the installation screen. This process will take a few minutes.

Do NOT press any key during the process until prompted to reboot the system.

16. When a reboot message appears, select Ok, to reboot the system.
