Republic of the Philippines Department of Education NARRATIVE REPORT ON READING AND ARITHMETIC ENHANCEMENT WITH GRATUITY (RAEG) GRADE 5 LEVEL MONTH OF DECEMBER To improve the literacy and numeracy foundations of Grade 5 learners, the Reading and Arithmetic Enhancement with Gratuity program was introduced. With incentives to promote active engagement, the program sought to enhance reading comprehension, fluency, and problem-solving skills. Engaging activities like storytelling, problem-solving games, guided reading sessions, and interactive math drills were used to carry out the curriculum. In order to reinforce learning in an enjoyable and cooperative setting, learners were provided with worksheets, digital resources, and group activities. Activities including tale recounting, paired reading, and comprehension tests were used to improve reading skills. To guarantee effective learning, teachers supplied reading materials that were differentiated according to the reading levels of their learners. Through real-world application problems, and mental math challenges, pupils in arithmetic gained confidence in their ability to calculate and reason logically. By include gratuities like certificates, recognition, and little prizes, pupils were encouraged to work harder at their studies and to take pride in their accomplishments. Learners' reading fluency and arithmetic problem-solving abilities significantly improved as a result of the curriculum, demonstrating its effectiveness. The interactive approach and the reward system enhanced their excitement and level of engagement. Teachers also saw a more positive attitude about learning and improved idea memory. In order to further improve pupils' reading and numeracy, the school intends to carry out this effort going forward and incorporate more creative activities.
