The specification provided is based on a maximum operating temperature of 50 C. Coatings for immersed conditions require special consideration and you must contact International for detailed advice on preparation , application and cure prior to their use. Surface Preparation & Comments Prepare surface by high pressure water washing with non ionic detergent to remove oil, grease, salts, poorly adherent paint and other contaminants. Use a minimum of pressure of 4000 psi. All surfaces to be painted must be free of contamination. All surfaces should be free of oil, grease and salt contamination before blasting. Abrasive blast clean to Sa2½ (ISO 8501-1:1988) or SSPC-SP10. If oxidation has occurred between blasting and application, the surface should be reblasted to the specified visual standard. Surface defects revealed by the blast cleaning process, should be ground, filled, or treated in the appropriate manner A sharp, angular surface profile of 50-75 microns (2-3 mils) is recommended. Stripe coats should be applied to all welds, lap joints, plate edges, corners, sharp edges, and any other areas where spray application of the overall coating system may prove difficult resulting in low dry film thickness' After the last coat has cured hard, the coating system dry film thickness should be measured using a suitable non-destructive magnetic gauge to verify the average total applied system thickness and the coating system should be free of all pinholes or other holidays. Dry film thickness under 20 mils (500 microns) can be checked using a suitable low voltage wet sponge holiday detector.Excessive voltage may produce a holiday in the coating film. The cured film should be essentially free of runs, sags, drips, inclusions or other defects. All deficiencies and defects should be corrected. The repaired areas shall be retested and allowed to cure as specified before placing the finished lining into service. All surfaces to be coated should be clean, dry and free from contamination. Prior to paint application all surfaces should be assessed and treated in accordance with ISO 8504:2000. Oil or grease should be removed in accordance with SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning.
