Meta-curricular Experience Form Guidelines to Understand and Fill in Meta-curricular Experience Form What is meta-curricular experience? Your meta-curricular experience represents the activities and the learning opportunities you participated in outside the classroom. Meta-curricular experience may include the following 1. Participation and learning from Co-curricular activities such as debate, dramas, sports, MUNs, singing, dancing, painting, writing etc. 2. Participation and learning from Community Service or Voluntary work such as initiatives taken to help people and communities around you, find ways to better the environment, raise awareness for important issues and other activities which may support your community and society. 3. Participation and learning from Work experience such as internships, part-time jobs, private tutoring, running your own organization/project or any other free-lance work. Community Service/Voluntary work Co-curricular Activties Darma, Debates, Sports, MUNs, Singing, Dancing, Writing, Painting, Sketching, Quizzes etc. Initatives taken for helping people & communities around you, raising awarenss, finding ways to better the environment etc. Work Experience Internships, part-time jobs, private tutoring, free lance work, running your own organization etc. Metacurricular Experience Why is meta-curricular experience form important? Habib University values your personal pursuits, passions and co-curricular involvement. The metacurricular experiences form helps us in getting to know you beyond your academics and assess your leadership skills, commitment towards your society in terms of community services and your unique talents. It would also help your application to stand out from the rest. Meta-curricular Experience Form How to fill out the meta-curricular experience form? The form has two sections i.e. Section A and Section B Section A: In the section A, you need to provide information elaborating upon your participation in meta-curricular activities while keeping the following guidelines in mind You may have participated in lots of activities but you need to select the best five activities to share with us in this form. You may choose to share less than five also. You can select activities from any area i.e. your co-curricular experience, community service/voluntary work and work experience depending upon your experience. You need to select activities from your O level/A level or grade 9-12 education period You can select activities for which you may not have any certificate of participation. Provide all the required details of selected activities as highlighted in the attached form Section B In Section B, you can provide details about any unique skill/talent you possess, how you acquired them and how you have used them so far. For example, the ability to play a musical instrument, speak multiple languages, write poetry, or your passion for photography or any other craft or skill you possess. How to make your meta-curricular experience form stronger using a work portfolio? A work portfolio is a personalized collection of your professional and personal work. For example, if you have a passion for photography or have participated in any event on a professional basis, you can showcase your photographs in the portfolio or if you have developed a project and want to display your work, a portfolio can carry a description of your work along with pictorial evidences. Submitting a portfolio can strengthen your meta-curricular experiences form. When should you submit your meta-curricular experiences form? Make sure to submit your meta-curricular experiences form before or by the day when your interview is scheduled. Your role in the activity Explain your role in the activity, i.e. participant, leader or other (If other please explain) My first activity is that I joined an English language center when I was in sixth standard. From sixth to eighth standard, I studied at OCEPS. My role in that was that I was just a girl who completed her three standards in a government school in a village. It was way hard for me to understand, speak, and read English. What did you learn from this activity? I learned many things, like how to speak, write, and read English. I am literally grateful to the teacher of that academy for the hard work he put into teaching me. My activity is that I do poetry in Urdu whenever I am all alone, sitting in peace with no noise surrounding me. It has been three years since I started doing this. My role is that I write poetry about real things that happen in our daily lives, leaving wounds on our hearts that cannot be described to others. I think this is the best way to express pain, emotions, and much more. I learned that sharing things with others often leads to misunderstanding or ridicule, so it is better to express thoughts and emotions through poetry rather than telling others. Actually, the thing is that no one knows I do poetry. I haven’t told anyone, nor have I shared my work. It’s all hidden, but maybe someday, I will share it. I write on random topics whenever I am sitting alone. If a random idea pops into my mind, I write it down in a notebook. My role in the activity is that I am the main thinker and writer. I come up with ideas and write about them. I learned that I am a good critical thinker and writer who can generate ideas and write about them within a few minutes, which I think is an incredible skill. I didn’t receive any awards for it, but my family and friends appreciate my work. Whenever they read my written thoughts, they say, "You are such a brilliant thinker and writer." Description I do singing, covering songs whenever I am in the mood. I like singing personally, especially when I feel low. When a random song pops into my mind, I sing it all by myself. My role is that I am a singer who covers different songs but never posts or shares them with anyone. I learned that singing, like poetry, is another way to express pain and emotions. If yes, please mention about it. I have never sung in front of my friends, but they often say, "You have such a charming voice; you should pursue singing." I developed this skill by writing about various topics in my notebook and expressing my ideas through words. I honed my speaking skills with the help of an English language course, which significantly improved my confidence and I developed thisfluency. skill by converting my thoughts and emotions into poetry as a form of self-expression.
