What is a natural talen t ?
WE ALL HAVE A NATURAL TALENT.
It is a set of spontaneous skills, things that we do naturally very
well and almost effortlessly. Often, these tasks even regenerate
us, give us energy. And if we apply ourselves to them, excellence
seems within reach.
A small spider has often been criticized for being solitary, for
complicating its life by trying to understand everything. But it is
precisely its ability to concentrate, to store data to extract meaning
from it, that is its natural talent.
Our natural talent will spontaneously manifest itself in the face of
danger, stress or when we need to recharge our batteries.
There are four natural talents. In the universe of Blooming
Companies, they are represented by the ant, the spider, the
butterfly and the bee.
Sometimes we have turned away from it because “they” (school,
family) has encouraged us to become better at what we were less
good at.

y our n a tural talent ?
When we are made aware of our talent, we can choose to
direct our activities to facilitate certain aspects of our life or a
project. We can take it into account to manage our finances,
our network or our daily life.
Spotting and understanding the natural talent of others also
allows us to know how to please them, to understand their
behavior in a group or when faced with a task. We understand
better the interest of complementarity in a team, we become
more tolerant.
But be careful, talent is not the only nuance between
individuals, it does not say anything, for example, about our
dominant sense (visual, auditive or kinaesthetic), our values or
counter-values, or our relationship to money.

Spider
Meticulous, diligent, persistent, the spider is often misunderstood in a fast moving society.
It is animated by a winter energy, the one that operates to regenerate the ecosystems in nature.
In a company, its great strength will be to intervene on complex systems or databases.
Spiders must learn to ignore those who find them not very social or not sensitive.
Over time, those around them respect their need to withdraw or retreat because it is when they are
alone and isolated, in a serene calm, that they are most effective.
The art of spiders is that of extreme concentration until the most efficient,
rational way of doing things is found.
They excel at setting up systems and are unbeatable
at answering the question “how ?”

The wo r ld s een by s pi d e rs
Spiders see the world in a crystal clear way.
This clarity is linked to their ability to capture fine details.
Where others see a cloud of gray, spiders see black or
white pixels and are able to pinpoint elements that go
completely unnoticed.
The behavior of spiders is linked to their right brain, that of
introverted actions. It’s all about precision, accuracy and
internal analysis.

it understands the ins and outs, flows, barriers and

Assign a production line to a spider and the output will
be optimized to an unprecedented degree. The spider
does not apply the levers to a system, it structures its
thinking around the levers.

We aknesses
Perfectionism.
As an aesthete, the spider likes what is impeccable,
flawless. It is an outrage for them to apply the famous
Pareto’s law which says that a job done at 80% of the
ideal result would be acceptable.
The need for time.
To focus on this level of detail and perfection, you
need time. But our society is constantly changing. The
spider must therefore be vigilant to evolve in a context
where its talent is valued and time is granted.
The lack of nuance.
Clarity in perceptions can be accompanied by a lack
of nuance in relationships. It can be difficult for a
spider to admit that others are seeing unclearly when
it is seeing clearly. They can become condescending,
judgmental or downright snippy.

V al é ri e' s exampl e
In the book “Blooming People, manual of
abundance for the gardeners of Life”, I present
Valérie’s example.
She is a nurse anaesthetist with a spider talent
who was vegetating in a temp position. It
seemed to her to be the only way to balance
her family and professional life.
Against all odds, it was a great misfortune that
got her out of this situation. To manage her
anxiety, Valerie devoted herself passionately
and deeply into a specific topic of her
profession. This exhaustive expertise gave
her the opportunity to reorient her career and
radically change her way of working.

About ta len ts
I did not invent anything. These talents are inspired by
the four temperaments of Hippocrates. They were picked
up by Jung and are found in the background of many
psychometric tests used by human resources.
I simply gave them the names of insects because my
world is one of permaculture and gardens.
We all have the four talents within us, in varying degrees.
It is therefore normal that you find yourself in all of
them to some extent. Nevertheless, there is one that
dominates and that is the one you will rely on.
There is no better one. All of them have their specificities
and all of them are necessary for a successful project.
We get along very well with talents that are similar to us
(we are “on the same wavelength”) and it is with different
and complementary talents that we will carry out the
most solid projects.

Wh o am I ?
My name is Katell Bosser. I am a permaculturalist of thriving
businesses, author, speaker and instructor.
For a major part of my life, I desperately wanted to become an Ant
(to please my family, my hierarchy, etc.).
I thought I was pretty much useless, I had no confidence in myself.
I was ashamed of my weak resume.
When I discovered that I was a Butterfly (and no, not everyone has
the same creativity), I understood my flaws better, accepted them and
learned to manage them. (Often, it’s just a matter of taking a certain
angle to get certain tasks done).
My self-confidence grew.
This personal ecological approach has naturally served as an anchor
for a wider vision, a desire to contribute to leading our planet
towards recovery. This is how I came to write “Blooming People, a
manual of abundance for the gardeners of Life”.
