Parts functions, tool bar icons, & shortcut keys

Parts of MS Word
1. Office Button: This provides access to basic file management tasks like New, Open, Save, and
Print.
2. Ribbon: Displays grouped tools and commands organized into tabs like Home, Insert, and Page
Layout.
3. Tab Selector Button: This allows switching between different tabbed tools on the Ribbon.
4. Rulers: Help with aligning text, graphics, and other elements in the document.

5. Document: Main area where you type, edit, and format your content.
6. Status Bar: Displays information about the document, such as word count and page number.
7. Task Bar: Refers to the Windows taskbar, where you can see the open MS Word application
and other running programs.
8. View Shortcuts: Quickly switch between document views like Print Layout, Web Layout, and
Outline.
9. Zoom Slide: Adjust the zoom level of the document to make it larger or smaller.
10. View Ruler Button: Toggles the visibility of the ruler in the document.
11. Screen Split Button: Divides the document window into two panes for easier viewing and
editing.
12. Scroll Bars: Used to navigate vertically or horizontally within the document.
13. Right Indent: Adjusts the right margin of the paragraph for precise alignment.
14. Group: Refers to related tools grouped together within a tab, like Font, Paragraph, or Styles.
15. Dialogue Box Launcher: Opens additional settings and options for the selected group.
16. Title Bar: Displays the document name and program name.
17. Quick Access Toolbar: Offers shortcuts to frequently used commands like Save, Undo, and
Redo.
18. Tab: Categories in the Ribbon like Home, Insert, that organize commands.
19. First Line Indent: Adjusts the indentation of the first line of a paragraph.
20. Hanging Indent: Adjusts the indentation of all lines in a paragraph except the first.
Toolbar Icons and Their Functions
1. Save: Saves the current document.
2. Undo: Reverts the last action.

3. Redo: Repeats the last undone action.
4. Bold (B): Makes the selected text bold.
5. Italic (I): Italicizes the selected text.
6. Underline (U): Underlines the selected text.
7. Align Left: Aligns text to the left margin.
8. Align Center: Centers text.
9. Align Right: Aligns text to the right margin.
10. Bullets/Numbering: Adds a bulleted or numbered list.
Shortcut Keys and Their Functions
1. Ctrl + N: Creates a new document.
2. Ctrl + O: Opens an existing document.
3. Ctrl + S: Saves the document.
4. Ctrl + P: Prints the document.
5. Ctrl + Z: Undoes the last action.
6. Ctrl + Y: Redoes the last undone action.
7. Ctrl + B: Makes text bold.
8. Ctrl + I: Italicizes text.
9. Ctrl + U: Underlines text.
10. Ctrl + A: Selects all text in the document.
11. Ctrl + C: Copies selected text.
12. Ctrl + X: Cuts selected text.

13. Ctrl + V: Pastes copied/cut text.
14. Ctrl + F: Opens the Find tool.
15. Ctrl + H: Opens the Find and Replace tool.
16. Ctrl + E: Centers the text.
17. Ctrl + L: Aligns text to the left.
18. Ctrl + R: Aligns text to the right.
