It is the card you can play if you've 'committed' an admin error during an assessment and you don't want to be penalised for it. WHAT IS AN ADMIN ERROR? Students are, however, not allowed to be in possession of two cards at the same time. Students may choose to sell or freely transfer their "Get Out of Jail Free Card" to another student. The sale price of the card cannot exceed R100. The Tax Team will NOT be involved in these transactions. Students can only purchase a MAXIMUM of one "Get Out of Jail Free Card" per academic year. Any instances of students charging more than R100 for their card should be reported to the Tax Team. Unused ‘purchased cards’ CAN NOT count towards surprise tests at the end of the year. HOW DO YOU PLAY THE 'GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD'? Use the official 'I want to play my Get Out of Jail Free Card' application form. E-mail the completed form (as mentioned above) within 24 hours after the relevant assessment to the Tax Team (Zaluxj@ufs.ac.za) Please allow 48 hours for processing of your application. The outcome of your application will be sent to your official ufs4life email address. If your application is denied, your card is still in play for other assessments. Should your error not fall within the boundaries of what is considered to be normal 'admin errors', it will be referred to a tax academic committee for final evaluation. This could delay your feedback with a further 48 hours.
