Business Studies Visit to Adani Enterprises : undra port, Adani Power, Adani M Wilmar, Adani Solar & Windtech ___ ( Figure 1 : Adani Site ) Date of Visit : 3.1.25 & 4.1.25 By : Maitri Davda - 9B 2 Executive Summary I visited Adani Industries in order to gain information about the daily operations, manufacturing units, cargo evacuation, export facilities, technological advancements and lastly to experience business tactics in the real world. Firstly, we visited Mundra Port which is the largest commercial port in India. Followed by Adani Power unit which is an enormous power producer in India with an installed capacity of 15,250 MW. We also visited Adani Wilmar, which was a site where manufacturing of fortune oil takes place. Lastly, we visited Adani Solar and Windtech where we observed the manufacturing of solar cells and a huge wind turbine. In a nutshell, I loved this enchanting experience and would look forward to more such visits. Introduction The visit to Mundra embedded educational concepts of all subjects including Business Studies, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Biology, and History. In Business Studies I grasped knowledge about production processes, supply chain management, and product branding in all industries. In Geography I understood trade routes at Mundra Port, and resource localization for Fortune oil production. While in History we explored the timeline and how from scratch they built such a huge company with their dedicated efforts and time. In Physics we saw the packaging technologies at industries like Wilmar, and the process of compacting a solar panel. Oil refining at Wilmar was a major learning for chemistry.Lastly for Biology we learnt types of oils manufactured at Wilmar and their nutritional components related to human health, and the recommended amount to be consumed everyday. (Figure 2 : Adani Power Plant) 3 Detailed Observation : 1. Adani Mundra Port & SEZ Mundra Port, located in Gujarat, is India’s largest commercial port and a vital medium for global trade. It handles various cargo types like dry bulk, liquid, containers, automobiles, and crude oil, with the capacity to accommodate large vessels such as VLCCs and ULCCs. The port features 26 berths and specialized terminals, ensuring efficient operations. It is flawlessly connected by railways, highways, private airstrips, and pipelines supplying crude oil and refined products to northern India. Next to the port is the Mundra Special Economic Zone (SEZ), India’s first multi-product port-based SEZ, spread across 15,000 hectares. The SEZ provides tax benefits, robust infrastructure, and simplified business processes, making it an attractive hub for industries. With its state-of-the-art facilities and strategic connectivity, Mundra Port and SEZ are vital contributors to India’s trade and economic growth, linking the country efficiently to global markets. ( Figure 3 : Mundra Port) 4 2. Adani Power I recently had the opportunity to visit the Adani Power Plant in Mundra, and it was a truly enlightening experience. One of the key highlights of the visit was learning about their supercritical technology-based 660 MW generating unit. Adani Power’s achievement in synchronizing this unit marks a milestone in India's energy sector. What amazed me even more was the project’s rapid execution—it went from inception to synchronization in just 36 months, setting a national record. Adani Power’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions through supercritical technology has not only made energy production more efficient but also earned them the Clean Development Certification from the UNFCCC. This recognition underscores their role as pioneers in sustainable energy solutions. In addition to thermal power, the company’s leadership in solar energy was equally impressive, operating one of the largest solar power projects in India. Their efforts to improve efficiency and minimize waste set a benchmark for the industry. My visit offered invaluable insights into how innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand, leaving me inspired by the possibilities of responsible energy production. ( Figure 4 : Adani Power Plant ) 5 3. Adani Wilmar During my visit to Adani Wilmar, I got to see how they produce a wide variety of edible oils, including soybean, palm, sunflower, rice bran, mustard, groundnut, cottonseed, blended oils, vanaspati, and specialty fats. It was fascinating to watch the manufacturing process and understand how they manage such a large range of products. It’s no surprise that they are the market leaders in edible oils and rank among the Top 10 Consumer FMCG companies in India. With 23 manufacturing units and a network of over 10,700 distributors, their scale is truly impressive and mindblowing. What really stood out to me, though, was their approach to consumer health. Even though they are in the business of selling edible oils, they actively advise people not to consume more than 50 ml of oil per day. I found this both surprising and admirable. It’s rare to see a company prioritize the well-being of its customers over simply selling more products. This visit showed me how Adani Wilmar strikes a balance between being a market leader and promoting healthier lifestyles, which left me genuinely impressed and inspired. Adani Solar & Windtech Visiting Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) was an eye-opening experience that highlighted India’s leadership in renewable energy. AGEL is not just India’s largest but also one of the world’s leading renewable energy players, actively driving the transition to clean energy. During my visit, I learned about AGEL’s massive renewable portfolio, which currently stands at 8.4 GW across 12 states, making it the largest in the country. This portfolio offsets over 41 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, a remarkable contribution to India’s decarbonization goals. Seeing their vision to reach 45 GW by 2030 was truly inspiring. I was particularly impressed by their innovative use of technology to lower the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE), making clean energy more accessible. What struck me most, however, was their commitment to sustainability. Their facilities are certified as water-positive, single-use plastic-free, and zero waste-to-landfill. This visit wasn’t just about facts and figures; it was a firsthand experience of how a company can align business growth with environmental responsibility. AGEL left me inspired to think differently about the future of energy. ( Figure 6 : Adani Solar ) 7 Learning Outcomes+ Conclusion My understanding for all the foundational subjects was enhanced due to this visit. Here is the learning associated with each Adani site. 1.
