Format of Lab Report 1. Cover Page (Use what I have given in the classroom) 2. Experiment Name 3. Objectives (1-3 Points) 4. Theory (from any recognized textbook/journal paper) 5. Apparatus 6. Experimental Setup (Draw Circuit Diagram that you have designed in lab) 7. Procedures 8. Calculation 9. Data Table 10.Result 11.Graph (if needed) 12.Precaution 13.Discussion 14.References (IEEE Format) (Follow this Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mmj_pc4IkZQ ) 15.Signed Student Work Sheet Page 1 of 3 Instructions 1. Give page numbers in the format current page / total number of pages in the middle of page in the bottom. for example: Page 1 of 6. Note: Pages with images only and graphs must also be considered. 2. In case of lists DO NOT use roman numbers as index 3. While writing captions for a figure write the full word Figure with a capital F. For example: Figure 1.3: Amplitude modulation. Note: Don't forget the full stop. 4. In case you have multiple figures under one caption. Index them using (a), (b) … UNDER the figures NOT beside them. And in the caption write them side by side in a sentence NOT as a list. For example: Figure 1.2: a) Message signal, b) Carrier signal, c) Modulated signal. 5. Each figure must be separately mentioned or briefly discussed in the theory. Note: Figures MUST be mentioned with a capital F. 6. If it is a single Equation remember to write it with a capital E. And if there are multiple equations the E will be small. 7. After writing an Equation if you have to describe its symbols. Write where and write their descriptions in a line not as a list. For example: F = ma where m = mass, a = acceleration. Note: Never write “Here, “instead of “where” and DO NOT put a comma after where. Page 2 of 3 8. Mention x and y axis scaling in graph paper. 9. Mention Symbol with units in first bracket in x and y axis. 10. Write procedure and discussion in Present perfect tense. 11. Draw circuit diagram clearly and mention each symbol in diagram 12. If you have more than one references then give the title “References” instead of “Reference”. Every reference MUST be mentioned in the theory part. References are mentioned at the end of the paragraph (before the full stop) inside a third bracket. For example: ……….[1]. Note: The full stop should be given after the reference index. 13. While writing references write them in the format [index] and as a list. For example: [1] [2] The references must be of any relevant books. While referring to a book the name of the writer comes first then the name of the book should follow. DO NOT alter this order. For example: [1] Leon W. Couch II, Digital and Analog Communication Systems, 7th edition, Prentice Hall, Englewood Cliffs. Note: If you don’t understand the rules of writing references see the video link in the given format document & read here again. ..................................................................
