To show the Symbols panels go to Illustrator top menu:
Window>Symbols

In Illustrator top menu, go to:
Window > Symbols Librairies > Other library

Browse you hard drive to find the brushes files located
in Illustrator Symbols folder.

The Symbols are now loaded in a new brushes
panel. You can now apply it to any vector shape, like
a rectangle or a circle.
Installing the symbols panels definitely
Every time you restart Illustrator you must reload the frames borders panels.
If you use it frequently, save time: place them in the Illustrator default presets folders. Now they are
always available in the Brushes menu.
Install on Windows:
C: \Program Files \Adobe \Adobe illustrator \Presets \Symbols
Install on Mac:
Applications:Adobe Illustrator:Presets:en_GB:Symbols

Resize the icon symbol by using
the handles
Modifying the Symbols
Right-click on the ornament,
and select Break Link to Symbol to turns the symbol into an
independant vector.
Now you can change this ornament on the artboard without
changing the original symbol in
the panel

Loading the Brushes panels

Window > Brushes Librairies > Other library

Select the rectangle tool

While the shape is selected, click on a border brush
from the panel

Select the shape and change the stroke size in the Stroke dropdown in the top Menu

Convert brush borders into outline
If you need to export the borders to another software, or to apply complex effects on the borders, convert them in outlines first
Select the shape:
Select Object > Expand appearance in the Top menu
Now the borders are converted
in outlines. You can export it or

Next, ungroup the borders by
selecting Object > Ungroup in
the top menu
Now apply any style or gradient
to the outlined borders.

Custom shapes for Photoshop
Installing custom shapes

Find the custom shapes located in your package in the Shapes for Photoshop folder

Copy these .CSH files in your Photoshop Custom shapes folder. Then restart Photoshop.

Select the Custom Shapes tool in the toolbar

Select the Shape selector
box in the top menu bar.
Then click on the triangle on
the top right corner
In the custom shapes list, select
the 930-ornaments-shapes

Inserting a custom shape

Click on the shape dropdown on the Custom Shape Tool
toolbar.
Click on an ornament to select it.

Then click and drag in the Photoshop document to insert it
and define size.
TIP: Hold down SHIFT keyboard when creating shapes to
constraint the proportions and get the correct appearance.
Modifying a custom shape
Press command-T (mac) or Control-T Windows to resize it.
Use the custom shapes toolbar to change color, apply style and
define the fill type
Select fill type
Note that the shape will
be filled only if you use the
mode “Shape layers” or “Fill
pixels”.
