Introduction to Cybersecurity and Keyboard Navigation
You can navigate through the Introduction to Cybersecurity course using keyboard only navigation.
This table outlines some of the fundamental keys you will need to use to move through and
interact with the content in this course using your keyboard.
Keys
Action
Tab
Use the Tab key to move from one object to the next.
For example, use the Tab key to jump from one topic title to the next on the
menu.
Shift+Tab
Use Shift+Tab to move in reverse order.
For example, use Shift+Tab to jump back to the previous topic title on the menu.
Arrow Keys
Use the arrow keys to scroll through text, interact with media and navigate
between items in a component.
For example, use the Up and Down arrow keys to cycle through answer choices
in questions. Use the Left and Right arrow keys to control the seekbar for audio
and video content,
Enter
Use the Enter key to activate the selected object (similar to a mouse click).
For example, use the Enter key to activate a button or hyperlink.
Spacebar
Use the spacebar to activate the selected object (similar to a mouse click).
For example, use the spacebar to mark an answer choice in a quiz question and
play or pause audio and video content.
Esc
Use the Esc key to close pop-ups, deselect choices in matching questions and
exit full-screen videos.
This table outlines how to interact with the different presentation components in the course using
your keyboard.
Component name and description
Accordion
Selecting each title heading reveals additional text and an
optional image.
Flipcard
Selecting each image reveals information on the back.
How it interacts
Press the spacebar or the Enter
key to expand the title heading.
Tab to continue to the text title
heading.
Tab to the flipcard image and
press the spacebar or Enter key
to flip the card over.
Press the Down arrow to navigate
through the text on the back of
the card.
Hotgraphic
Tab to the first pin and press the

button, such as the play button.
Narrative
Select the arrows to reveal a series of side scrolling images
and accompanying text.
Press the Enter key on the arrow to move to the next narrative
item.
Text
A basic presentation component.
Open text input
Enter free form text into the space provided.
Press the Down arrow to navigate
through the text that is visible on
screen.
Type in your response and Tab to
move to the Submit button.
Press the Enter key to submit
your response.
Question components
This table outlines how to complete the different question components in this course using your
keyboard.
Component name and description
Fill in the blanks
Select the correct answer from a dropdown list.
How it interacts
Press Tab to move to the first dropdown
box.
Press the Enter key to open the dropdown
box and use the Up and Down arrows to
move through the different options.
Press the Enter key to choose your
answer.
Press Tab to move to the next dropdown
box and repeat the process as above.
When you have made all of your choices,
you will move to the Submit button. Press
the Enter key to submit your answer.
Graphical Multiple Choice Question
Press Tab to move through each of the

Multiple Choice Question
Select the correct answer(s) to a question from a
list.
Press Tab to work through the possible
answer options.
Press the Enter key to choose your
answer(s).
Press Tab to move to the Submit button
and press the Enter key to submit your
response(s).
Slider
Position a slider on a scale.
Press Tab to move to the first value on the
scale.
Use the Left and Right arrows to move to
the sliding scale and press the Enter key
to choose your answer.
Press Tab to move to the Submit button
and press the Enter key to submit your
response.
Stacker
Place the options in the correct order.
Press Tab to move to the first item on your
list.
Press the Enter key to open the numbered
positions and then press Tab to choose
the number that you wish to position this
item.
Repeat this process for each of the items
on your list.
Once you have selected a numbered
position for each item on your list,
press Tab to move to the Submit button
and press the Enter key to submit your
response.
Yes/No
Place the answer options into two categories.
Press Tab to move to the Start button and
press the spacebar or the Enter key to
begin this activity.
When you have sorted all items, the
question will be submitted automatically,
and question feedback will appear.
Use the Up and Down keys to go through
the items for any specific feedback.
