Toro1 Nayeli T. Toro Torres Professor Andrea Rodriguez Santiago INGL3103-041 September 2, 2022 My dancing experiences Since I was four years old, I have been dancing ballet. Not only do I dance ballet, but I also dance contemporary, hip hop, and jazz. I practice in a small academy in Lajas called Platinium Danzart Studios. It is one of my favorite things in the world. The feeling that one has while your dancing is incredible. When you are on the stage and hear the applause, all the emotion you feel is amazing, I cannot describe how it feels. I started in baby ballet, then I escalated to ballet infantile, later to pre-junior. This is where everything changes because I started dancing in point shoes. Point shoes are a type of ballet shoes which are used to dance on the tip of the toes. I was so used to using flats, so the change was hard and hurt a lot. After a lot of practice, I got used to it and progressed my skills. Then I escalated to juniors' ballet and started getting majors roles on the shows we did at the end of the seasons. We did two of them, one in December, another in May. Some of the roles I got were Annie in Annie, Lock in Nightmare Before Christmas, and Linda in Rio. Then, the pandemic happened. We were forced to shut down the academy and started taking classes online by Zoom. I hated it so much because we did not have space to move, and it was not the same. I started to fall out of love with ballet, but I did not stop. Then when the virus was getting controlled, we reopened and started practicing again slowly. Now I am in juvenile ballet, and I was promoted to be a substitute teacher. I normally teach ballet to baby and infantile. I love it, I did not expect to like it so much. Toro2 Our director told us that we are going to do a show again in December, I really hope so because we have not done a show in the last two years thanks to the pandemic. I miss the stage and showing other people what I love.
