Reasons
You encounter this issue while sharing the company file in multi-user mode or
accessing it from the multi-user network. Here are the reasons
QBCFMonitorService causes problems in your QuickBooks Desktop1.
QuickBooks is restricted from executing its functions by the Windows Firewall
or other security software on your computer.
2.
QuickBooks fails to access the executable program file for
QBCFMonitorService.
3.
Other Windows applications are interrupting the QuickBooks processes running
in the background.
Solutions
You won’t be able to open the company file on the workstations or share it from
a server computer after this issue develops in QBDT. The applicable solutions to
remove the issue from your QuickBooks are discussed below-
Solution 1- Add new firewall ports to prevent
QBDT from getting blocked
QuickBooks might fail to access the QBCFMonitorService.exe file or use it for
multi-user network setup if the Windows Firewall blocks the software functions.
You must also ensure that none of the QB files (QBDBMgrN.exe, QBW32.exe,
QBDBMgr.exe, etc.) are quarantined by the security software on your PC. You
must add new firewall ports for QuickBooks to allow it to bypass the restrictions,
as shown in the following steps 1.
Open the Windows Defender Firewall menu from the control panel or run a
direct search from the taskbar.
2.
Click the Inbound Rules option on the left panel and select New Rule.
3.
Single-click the Port option and tap Next to open the next window.
4.
Choose TCP from the UPD & TCP options mentioned on the screen and go to
the Specific Local Ports option.
5.
Check the following list for different QB products and type the firewall ports
accordingly-
•
QuickBooks Desktop 2017:8019, 56727, 55373-55377
•
QuickBooks Desktop 2018:8019,56728,55378-55382
•
QuickBooks Desktop 2019:8019, XXXXX
•
QuickBooks Desktop 2020 and recent:8019, XXXXX.
6.
Choose the correct port according to your QB product and hit Next.
7.
Select Allow the connection and click Next to create a new one with any
name you want.
8.
Save the settings after verifying all the changes and repeat all these steps
after selecting Outbound Rules in step 2.
If you still fail to open the company file, move to the next solution.
Solution 2- Stop the QBCFMonitorService.exe
process
You also run into this issue if some QB background processes stop responding or
get hindered by other applications running on your PC. Remove the issue using
these steps1.
Open the task manager on your PC using the shortcut keys Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
2.
Click the Processes tab and search for QBCFMonitorService.exe in the results.
3.
Right-click the service and hit End Task.
4.
Close the task manager and try opening the company file again in QBDT.
