Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. I am here to argue against the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes. Marijuana is a harmful substance that can have serious consequences for both individuals and society. Legalization may increase the social costs of marijuana use, such as health problems, accidents, unemployment, and crime. The frequent use of the substance can cause higher likelihood of depression, problem with memory and cognitive function, fetal growth restriction etc. Although marijuana can be helpful and resourceful with the curing, prevention and treating for sicknesses, high dosage of the substance can cause hallucination and paranoia, breathing problems such as chronic coughing, bronchitis and lung infection from smoking marijuana. The main negative effect this substance has is addiction, addiction is a condition that affects some people who use the drug regularly, especially those who start at a young age. Marijuana addiction means that the person has difficulty controlling their use of the drug, even when it causes problems in their life. Marijuana addiction can have serious consequences for the person’s health, relationships, education, and career.
