Dear Editors,
I am pleased to submit a review article entitled “A Review on Ionic and Nonionic Dyeing of
Polyester fiber for Pre-garment Processing “for publication in your esteemed Journal (Textile
Research Journal). In this review article, we developed the dyeing of polyester fibers using both
ionic and nonionic dyes, emphasizing the importance of sustainable dyeing, mechanism such as
surface modification techniques with plasma, ultrasonic waves, ozone exposure, and chitosan.
These modifications introduce reactive functional groups that enhance the fiber's compatibility
with ionic dyes, which are favored for their reactivity compared to nonionic dyes alternatives.
Despite existing literature on the application of these dyes for polyester, comprehensive reviews
remain scarce. The findings of this review elucidate the mechanisms involved in sustainable
dyeing polyester and its blends with ionic and nonionic dyes, highlighting aspects such as
surface modification, improved light fastness, enhanced shade formation, and the chemical
interactions between the functional groups on polyester fibers and ionic dyes. Our manuscript
will give a clear message to readers and scientists about the alternative and sustainable dyeing of
polyester fiber in pre garment processing. This manuscript has not been published and is not
under consideration for publication elsewhere.
