The Commendation of a Saint
Kirk T. Pañares, December 29, 2012
[Sgd.]
Once there was a man, dreaming of being sacred; a man who follows the things that his friends tell him. But in
everything he does, he pauses and asks himself, “Why am I doing this? Who can benefit from what I will do”,
“Will there be a person who might appreciate what I am doing now, or, will my parents be happy with what I
will do now? “
These are the questions he is asking right now. These are the queries that the unconscious mind tells him. But
not knowing, he is a disciple of his conscience. So in everything that his conscience tells him, he will attach into
it, and never question it. However, he is also guided by his friends and families that are so close to him, when
he badly needs it.
The signs of mercy are seen upon him. You may once notice that he suddenly becomes sad and look down and
close his eyes. Yes, it is true; by the time that he sees common people who worked for their living, the people
who survived from poverty, the people who strangle themselves just to live, and the people who want to have
a greener Pasture for their future. Those were the times that his tears will almost shed off his eye; even if they
call it empathy or empathy, one thing in common, he wants to help but he lacks the things that he would like to
share to the people.
But why is he sometimes enticed to do wrong? Is there something unjust with him? No, he is not. He has a
strong foundation towards his faith. God is always testing his faith; of how he will solve his problem, and how
to change the criticism of the persons who are within his problem. Yes, there may be times that he is tempted
to do such things; the things that he is doing because of peer pressure and the influence of friends. But he does
cover all these things, and solve all these things one by one.
There are also times that he really does something wrong. The times that he was wrong, like telling lies just to
decrease his anxiety. Good, he has his friends who tell him what is right and just. He then reflects himself and
undoes what he had done. Yes, he is easily influenced by his friends, his friends that shall we say, somewhat a
bad influence; but inside them that they are good, and they enlighten him.
We do not label him a saint, but we entitled him a saint. Pretending to be a saint is too hard, in a fact that you
are seen by the public that you are helpful, spending time to charities, or lending a hand to the poor, but inside
you, generally, bad in front of Him, there’s still no chance, you are still labeling yourself a saint. But by the time
that you will both help the people who are in great need, and you faithfully obey and do His commands; then,
you are both good in the eyes of people and unto Him, and therefore, I conclude that you are entitled to be a
saint. That’s what he is doing; he is gradually doing all this, in order to serve and glorify the Lord.
Remember, doing well has its own reward, and this was his ambition. And it said, “Then I saw “a new heaven
and a new earth, “for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I
saw the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully
dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now
among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and
be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain,
for the old order of things has passed away.”He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything
new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” (Revelation 21:1-5)
